£55.75 since last post for July.

Bought a few different loose teas which account for £18.90 of the above :o. We should be able to come in budget still.

Slinking in to report a total loss of plot here, I'm afraid. To be honest, I'm probably still well within the budget, as we've been eating mostly out of the freezer and the leftovers from the odd occasion when I've actually had time to go & buy some food! I'm off tomorrow to set up my stall at our big local festival, with the two DDs, & won't be back until late Monday, then on Tuesday I'm off to help my mother move down west & won't be back until Thursday! By which time the freezer should be about half empty...

The Entertainments budget has taken a hammering, as it always does at this time of year; we have 3 birthdays this month, which always entail a meal out or a take-away. But that's budgeted for & comes around every year. Meals & snacks at the festival come out of the business budget (mostly stuff we've prepared & cooked ourselves in my van) not the household finances.

In other news, we're going down one inhabitant shortly; DS2 will be leaving to share with a friend. Which will ease the space issues a bit, and mean things won't vanish from the fridge/storecupboard quite so often! DS3 is still staying pending moving to his new accommodation, but will be off again sometime before the end of August. At that point, I will adjust my targets downwards. And breathe a huge sigh of relief, much though I love them!

£25.54 in Lidl, had a £5 off voucher so stocked up with a few bits, mostly meat, had to squeeze it into freezers as not going down much this month, living on salad, looking bit off budget as need dog food ordered soon, waiting for a !0% off email, but plus side will not need much in August.
Do I need it or just want it.

I've been busy and not had time to update for a while but the upside is that I've been too busy to shop much. I've had a £5.57 spend on fruit and a £14.64 spend on fruit and things to go in sandwiches.

That should be it until the weekend so I should be well under budget this month. I'm starting to make good progress at emptying the freezer which is helping.

Logging my first spend of the week £27.32 Not bad really, considering I had 2 x bags for life stuffed and had a fair bit of yellow stickers including chicken, haddock, a big chunk of wensleydale and fruit/veg.
I'll need to get more bits at the end of the week possibly as I'm at my parent's so just bought things for while I'm here but froze some of the bits that were yellow stickered to take home. I'm also working on my portion control as meals for one made by me end up being meals for 2 so I have extra portions of my last 2 dinners in the fridge

Managed a NSD yesterday so that's one for this week :T

4/5 of budget spent and only halfway through the month... I've not done a meal plan which really shows and not prepping lunches for work. Will have to see what I can salvage.

I absolutely wrecked my budget by buying a few bottles of whiskey that were on offer. £50 spent! Well worth it though, as usually they'd be around £75, and they'll definitely be consumed!

I've done a shop for next week as well, which brings my total in at a staggering £268.44 for the month - assuming I can resist the urge to pop to the shops for bits and bobs. I'll probably need a loaf of bread at some point, but only that! I thought I was spending around £200 on a regular month, but I underestimated by a fair bit. Nearly half of that is alcohol - which we could definitely cut down on. I've always been a big drinker, might be time to knock it on the head for a bit.

£5.30 since last post for July.

I'm going to be having vegan chili cheese nachos for dinner tonight.
OH is having beef stir fry and noodles.
I have some bananas that are very ripe so will likely make banana nutri-brex cake. On that note bought 500g dried soaked fruit for 25p . BBE of this month but they will be fine a while after that.

    £138.05/£155.
    £16.95 left.

    Hi!

I don’t know if this is the right place for this but I’ll ask anyway. If not appropriate, I will ask for it to be removed.

I am desperately wanting (and needing) to get my food spends down. I am ashamed at the amount we spend on food and takeaway.

I do have some limitations in that I suffer from nausea and an extremely sensitive sense of smell, which means I sometimes struggle with cooking.

Anyway, I mainly shop in Sainsbury’s.

Does anyone shop in Aldi or Lidl and actually get decent food? I used to shop there (mainly Aldi) but found the quality extremely lacking.

I am away in August so will probably join officially for the end of August/September.
  • Hi Anoneemoose!
I shop in Ald for 90% of our stuff and the quality is absolutely fine. In fact, I prefer a lot of their things to the name brands.
Their fruit and veg is usually great as well.
