I'm up to £325.38/£400 with 9 days left. I've got an online delivery from Mr S coming on Wednesday should be around £43 as I've got a MOC. I've also got a coupon I could use at Wa!trose but I probably won't use it this week as I think I've got enough to see us through and they are valid until the 5th August so will use them in the new month to stock up on store cupboard essentials.

  • OH spent £34 on food for the bbq yesterday :eek:, not updated my sig yet but that leaves me with about £9 til Friday, which should be ok as I don't need anything major and we have loads of bbq leftovers :rotfl:

It's just a shame as I thought I'd have a good surplus this month, but it's all part of the MSE/managing what's in the freezer learning curve.

I was going to do a roast and I've got a piece of beef in the freezer and have the veg etc, but was totally unprepared when everyone suddenly wanted a bbq instead. I'm going to take advantage when I see RTC bbq stuff and have some in the freezer just in case, I don't normally buy things like sausages and burgers, but I see so many in the reduced aisle and really wished I'd got some in the freezer yesterday!! Oh well it was a lovely day! :rotfl:

£2 spent yesterday on Tahinii, had to visit 3 supermarkets to find any, was in them with browsing friend, will update sig next time
Do I need it or just want it.
  • Good morning everyone
    well workmen should finish today:j
They were held up with weather. It has been a bit showery here and as the work they were doing is outside they lost a couple of days. However I am very pleased with finished product.:T
Have managed to eat a couple of things out of freezer but still not made much of a dent in supplies. I am trying to delay another visit to shops. I have a shopping list consisting of five items and I am determined not to buy anything else.
    Famous last words.
    Good luck to everyone else.

£35 on an online butcher's order and £27 on groceries/household stuff. My July budget is well blown at £211/£150. YTD is holding up okay though thankfully.

Evening everyone. Today was a NSD but Sunday I some shopping.

€17.25 at the local market on various cheeses, a few veg and other stuff.

€8.39 at Delhaize for trash bag, compost bags and some bits.

€19.64 at Asian supermarket for pantry staples like chili oil, vinegars, tofu and a boatload of ramen. I meant to get tahini and other stuff but I couldn't find it and I had to run.

    TOTAL SO FAR:
    €294.45 / €400.00
    11 / 12 NSD

My totals are surprisingly high this month but I'll live with it. I've done some stocking up on things like toilet paper, trash bags, pantry staples, etc. For this last week, I'm going to aim for keeping it within €50. I didn't get a few things that were on my list this weekend and will need to get them this week. Plus, Lidl has British Week this time around and I may get some cheddar there.

Here are some recipes / things I'm thinking about cooking. I’m thinking about just making components to put together salads or meals instead of lots of planned dishes:
    • Gorgonzola cheese dip - https://www.bonappetit.com/story/gorgonzola-cheese-dip. This is just gorgonzola and heavy cream mixed together. I bought cheese at the market and cream at Delhaize. I'll be eating this with cold cut veg to double as a way to get veg in me and to cool down during this hot week.
    • Sichuan cucumber salad - https://www.chinasichuanfood.com/chinese-cucumber-salad/. One of the reasons I went to the Asian market.
    • Pork belly - diced and seasoned, quickly fried in the pan.
    • Shrimp - quickly fried in the pan. I can easily mix this with edamame and greens for a salad.

Bit the bullet and ordered 3 sacks of dog food, 10% off and free delivery, £45.33, that will last until November though, will amend sig to reflect and include mini spend from Sunday.
Popping back to report quite pleased actually still got £29 in kitty and not much grocery is needed.
Do I need it or just want it.
  • I'm down to 0 left now, but have a full fridge and get paid in 2 days, so will call this month a success. :)
  • Declaring at £359.81/£400
Extremely happy with this month! Expecting August to be expensive as everyone is home until mid September and they go through food like a plague of locusts.
See you on the August thread.
