  • hi everyone,
called into a local shop today for milk and came out after spending £9+.
Have workmen coming next week and I will be providing lunches and snacks so I bought three bottles of diluting juice reduced to £1 a bottle. Have to keep them hydrated:).
Also bought some chocolate bars to add to treats for tea breaks.
Should have enough in freezer and cupboards to cover everything else.
  • I'm down to 17.50 left in the budget.
Should be ok as will only have to cover 4 days with that next week.
Fridge, freezer and store cupboard currently full to the brim so won't need anything until next weekend.
  • If you are looking for a realistic mince replacement, try the new Naturli mince in Sainsburys. I made Spaghetti Bolognese with this recently and it was delicious. I like it better than the frozen Tesco veggie mince we ( i am vegan, DD2 veggie and GD1 is dairy intolerant) normally use. DD2 loved it too, and she eats alot of vegan meals, and hates cheese and drinks my plant milk. She says she'll probably be vegan in the future, but she's 15 and it's taken her a few attempts to stick to being vegetarian.

In other news, i have spent £49.64 since i last posted in Aldis, work, and Morrisons. I also have and Ocado shop due as i am lacking in dinner ingredients; and my Morrisons has decided to stop stocking the only dairy free cheese they had, so need to stock up for me and GD from here. Feel like it's going to be a spendy month, though i really need it not to be. Due to such tight spends last month, we seem to be running out of almost everything :undecided

    Thanks I'll give it a go :)

£19.74 spend yesterday so £95.37 left in the budget, so I should come in under - I need to do my week's food plans today and see what else I need to buy this week, then a week's shopping to do next week too but should be fine :)

    Spends last week-

    £43.55 in Mr Ts
    £18.48 on work lunches

Under £100 in budget now... This is doable if I can avoid buying lunches at work

30p today on three packets of YS part-baked baguettes at work.

We also need bananas, Quorn sandwich meat and something else (that escapes me right now) tomorrow. I would buy strawberries, but they seem to be on the turn as soon as they are bought lately.

I managed to go a whole week without entering a supermarket. Did another weekly shop on Friday. The shop was missing a couple of items so I had to pick them up later.

Was really pleased with this week!!!8217;s total as came to 90.61 and I!!!8217;ve lost the receipt which maddens me in itself as I like to pore over it now, but I!!!8217;m pretty sure I bought a lunchbox for DD who is starting packed lunch boxes in September. I am doing two recipes from the cheap recipe thread and only one meal from the freezer this week. Also I had two guests on Saturday night and lunch today so that needed extra food.

The only annoying thing about the weekly shop is trying to cram it all in the fridge and then for two days nothing can be found without half emptying it! But it did mean my day off work and several evenings didn!!!8217;t include a trip to the shop.

Today I got home and on top of the microwave was an empty packet of wraps. (Why not in the bin?) I brandished it at DH along with my meal plan which was wraps for tomorrow for lunch! He has used all the bread too, so might have to get a loaf, as toast is on the menu a couple of mornings this week. ANNOYING. I wouldn!!!8217;t mind so much if I knew he was eating. He always makes out he doesn!!!8217;t need breakfast or lunch as he!!!8217;s on Slim-fast!

Still pleased with my total so far this month of £270.42.

Actually Save Dosh, your post is making me think very seriously about going vegetarian once the meat in the freezer is finished.
    Wow, that sounds great. x
Note to self: stop buying stores and start eating them:)
    lol - yes.

Just caught up on posts. Looks like everyone is doing well. I've had a few [STRIKE]junk food rubbish[/STRIKE] spends. I've updated sig - now on £38.40/£80, which is about right on target. I have tons in as per - just need tomatoes/mushrooms & onions.
  • How things have changed over the last couple of months, I used to drive to the supermarket, do a great big weekly shop and spend between £80 and £120 without really taking much notice, and today I was getting twitchy because I spent £23.16 :rotfl:

To be fair, I also spent £19.74 on Saturday, topping up as after 2 months of using up, we were out of so much stuff, so it feels a heavy week!

But I've spent £177.79 so far this month over 3 and a half weeks, and will only need a few basics next week, so I'm going to be well within budget :). I've had 3 family birthdays/bbqs too, so there was some extra expense in there.

I've changed my shopping habits and don't do a big shop, I pop in several times a week and look for YS stuff, and it's working well :)
