Main Dealer Mis-Selling

Hi,

I've signed up for a new car on pcp just over 2 weeks ago.

The car is built to order with a minimum 16 weeks delivery but as of yet the dealership has no confirmation date.

Today I've read in the press that the new face lift model will be in the showrooms in September (before my delivery date) so my car will be the old model when I collect it.

Surely I should have been informed of this fact? Apart from the increased depreciation when I drive off the forecourt, better deals should be negotiated on pre-facelift models.

I feel badly let down by the salesman.
Who wants to collect a new 'pre-face lift' car unless it was a great deal!

Do I have grounds to complain?

Thanks for any advice

Regards

No. No mis selling. I presume you didn!!!8217;t specifically ask whether a new model was coming out? Your own fault for not doing your research properly.

If it's built to order what makes you think you wont be getting the new model? I think you need to speak to your dealer to clarify.

All cars have face lifts though the cycles of their life but I dont think I'm being un-reasonable in expecting the latest model on collection from the dealership.

I didn't say they don't but as it's a factory order being delivered later than September what makes you think you're getting the older model. As I said you need to clarify this with your dealer.

    What car is it?

I already have, its not the new face lift model, mine must be one of the last pre-facelift models off the production line.

Hes taking it up with the area manager but I feel tripped up regardless of my lack of knowledge/research.

  • 2 weeks ago it wasn't in the press so how do you expect the dealer to know for certain there is a new model? If you don't want the car, cancel the order and re-order the new one. Expect to pay more though.

OP, if you were to take legal action over the dealer, what exactly would the basis of your claim be?

You will get the car you ordered.

As already posted, you could cancel and order the facelift model but will pay more and wait even longer (13+ weeks for a Skoda ).

The dealer (probably) wouldn't have had any info about the facelift model if it hadn't been officially announced and almost certainly wouldn't have been able to see it on their system to place any sort of order.

If the new car is released in September and build time is 16 weeks if you are getting yours before September plus 16 weeks why would it be anything other than the old model?

Quite why it takes 16 weeks to build a car I don't know, Henry Ford must be spinning in his grave.
