Afternoon all
We were hoping to go away this weekend, but our camper van is still not backNow supposed to be Monday. Spent the morning at DD's helping with laying concrete that arrived in a lorry instead  My bit was mainly child wrangling to be fair, cute but high maintenance 6 month old baby, plus 4 year old GD who is poorly
Also: Not spent anything
HG strawberries for breakfast
DD gave me some eggs from her chickens, and some satsumas, as her shopping had inexplicably contained about 6 packs of them - she phoned the supermarket and told them, but they just said to keep them
Posted an ebay parcel
Relisted several things - must put some new stuff on there!
Dug a load of potatoes, enough for several days
Made and froze rocket pesto, using rocket from the garden
Discovered that my garlic had grown scapes (long curly stems). I had read about these being a delicacy, but haven't seen them before, even though I grow garlic every year. So I cut them off and googled for recipes. Decided to make spinach and scape frittata for dinner tonight - I will report back!
Copied Mrs F's garlic flatbread recipe into my book
Will need to water pots in front garden, but it is too hot atm!0 -
Oh you have all got Garluc Flatbreaditis! Thanks for passing on the recipe again, PurpleFairy. They are bloomin' useful.....not just cos of freezing well & using up yoghurt, but because they are a very cheap way of filling people up! If I suddenly heard my nephews were unexpectedly heading up the A1 & I needed to stretch dinner to feed more people, I think I'd be slapping a batch of those flatbreads on the griddle asap.
Enjoy!2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

And here is today's list of money saving achievements:
*Managed to use several nectar point vouchers. Already got over £20 of points towards Christmas food shopping, which isn't bad considering we usually shop at non-nectar point supermarkets.
*Left several silly little tempting buys in the shop....think will leave those to my dfw diary.
*Watered veggie garden.
*Made coleslaw.....prefer chunky home made to bought, esp when we have everything in to make it.
*Picked home grown strawberries.
*Discussed forthcoming kitchen tart-up with mr f & went out to shed to assess his manly paint stash. Think some money will be saved there.
*Didn't go to Ikea.
*Stitch more birthday gift. I want it done this weekend, then I can do the beading in time for throwing myself on my friend's mercy to see if she will sew it up for me.....or cut & pin/tack for me to have a go.
*Contacted our fave campsite re booking some time away in our tent....just waiting to hear if they have a spare pitch. At least £500 cheaper than booking a cottage.
*Update dfw diary, which does seem to have helped me refocus a bit this year.
Have a nice night all, whatever you'te doing.

Hi all hope you are all enjoying the lovely weather this weekend.
Purple fairy and foxgloves thankyou so much for the flatbread recipe - that will definitely be getting made. We usually have lots of leftovers in the freezer so having something quick to pad them out and mop up the gravy is ideal.
Shopping last night was fairly sucessful -£47.74 slightly more than i planned (£40ish) but i got some good ys stuff which i can incorporate into this weeks meal plan. Much less than normal £70 budget anyway
I've Spent most of the morning at hospital with eldest who was having teeth out under GA - they were taking 4 out but ended up removing 6!! Very unfrugal day for the tooth fairy :rotfl:
Small things today:
:A LSD (except for aforementioned tooth fairy expenses) - only bought a £2 football magazine for son to read while waiting for op
:A got hospital carpark for free (instead of £3) as barriers were broken and being fixed
:A veggies watered using waterbutt and weeded
:A strawberries picked
:A mum gave me £10 contribution towards son's "bravery" gift.
:A mum gave me 2 large bottles of cider and 2 cartons of fresh orange she didnt like
:A mum gave me a huge punnet of strawberries as had too many to eat
:A surveys done
:A got free oreos via cashback app
:A shopping receipts uploaded to shoppix
:A very nice chocolates from step dad as thankyou for dogsitting last week
:A ys Lidl turkey mince made into hm burgers for tea
:A freezer inventory done - found loads of stuff i'd forgotten (including loads of frozen garlic - so perfect that i have that flatbread recipe to use some)
:A started to draft two week meal plan to make use of some of the above

Morning all
Spudsmum, hope your son is ok, having 6 teeth out doesn't sound like fun
The Analyst, that is some serious debt busting!
Grr, tried to edit my yesterday's post last night and lost the wireless connection. I think the wireless card on this laptop is on its way out, it keeps doing that  Anyway, garlic scapes, for anyone who might be remotely interested, were a nice addition to the frittata I made, not too strong a garlicky taste at all. If they happen again, I will parboil them before adding them as they were a bit crunchy in the finished omelette despite the long cooking. OH disagrees though as he liked the texture!
Been car booting this morning, bought some nice cheese from one of the market stalls, some plants to fill up the front garden pots and a few bits to sell on. Not much spent.
What was considerably more spendy, was filling up the car yet again. OH is going away on a fishing trip for a couple of days, so needs must. Busted the budget for fuel this month though- I guess I should have budgeted more, as I knew in advance about this trip.
Other things:
Wash my hair in a minute as it is driving me nuts - will allow to dry in the sun outside
Leftover frittata for lunch
Ham cooked yesterday for dinner, with new potatoes and salad - will invite my brother as I usually do on Sundays if we are around. He has an issue with his car and will need to borrow some money, no doubtNot fun together with the vehicle repairs and tax I need to pay for before the end of the month, but thank goodness one of the family is a moneysaver, I guess!
Plant out the mesembryanthemum (sp?) plants I bought from the car boot saleThey will be just right for the sunny front garden, and won't worry about not getting watered too often. Hope the slugs and snails don't like them!
Water back garden pots and feed tomatoes
Right, time to sort out my hair :eek:0 -
*notes down garlic bread recipe*
Mornin folks!
Still catching up with the thread so apologies if I've missed something.
working mum - sounds like you're doing amazingly! re Epilating - it hurt a lot the first time. In fact it took me a week to do my armpits
After that though, it was ok. My legs don't hurt at all and under my arms is tweaky but bearable. The only prob I have is with little ingrowing hairs on my legs but I think that would be avoided with a better regime of moisturisation and exfoliation than my current lazy approach
spuds_mum I hope DS is ok. 6 teeth! I've had 6 out in total (1 milk that wouldn't fall out, 1 extra tooth!, 3 milks that had no adults and 1 wonky wisdom) but only had 3 at one time! Poor little mite, I hope he heals up quickly.
Bit of a lacklustre weekend. I kept thinking it would be nice, but there seemed to b a lot of toing and froing for very little pleasure or gain. OH also narky on and off and blaming me which is normally a sure sign that he's narky :rotfl:
So I'm going to try and enjoy today, despite it being a work day.
The mission:- B/L/D from stores. Dinner might be a pea and courgette risotto - all from the garden
- done
- Make courgette and peanut butter loaf with home grown courgette. - nope
- Reconcile budget sheet - done
- Water garden (oh when will it ever rain?!) - done
- Pot on tomatoes and hanging basket - done
- Walk to B&M for compost, bedding plants (for hanging basket) and gaviscon (for OH) - bought 3 trays of petunias that were reduced to 20p each cos half of them were dead. Probably got 30 for 60p instead of 20 for £2.99!
Have a good one all
clf xLBM 11/06/2010: DFD 30/04/2013Total repaid: £10,490.310 - B/L/D from stores. Dinner might be a pea and courgette risotto - all from the garden
