What small DFW things will you do w/c 18th June??

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Morning!
DNMS - thank for starting us off
Ally - hooray for sleeping
Slowdown - my mother in law has fibromyalgia so I have seen how tough it is.
Also, I would say that the type of behaviour that you had to put up with at work might take longer than 6 months to really get over. My OH was diagnosed with PTSD and depression and we went through a hellish year before he was sufficiently level. The year that followed was v.bad in work for me (stress, redundancies, poor company performance) and it wasn't until the spring of the following year that it all caught up with me and I had to have time off with burnout. This was about 12 months ago now, and I think I'm still only at 80%.
Bit of an unplanned spend. Friend can't go to the Foo Fighters tomorrow now so I have nabbed the tickets. £120 for the two but yes please Foos!
Today's mission:- B/L/D from stores
- Gym at lunchtime
- Charge phone in work
- Post card for friend - done
- Water garden
Have a good one all

Hello Monday Money Savers,
And on today's list.......
*Paid in a cheque.
*Perused lots of charity shops without buying anything - did spot an interesting dress which would have looked pretty funky over chunky tights & DMs, but it was priced at £10.50 and I did think that was a bit hot for a charity shop, as it wasn't vintage or a designer brand.
*Free parking for me today, as mr f had a work appointment in our local town, so I nabbed a lift in with him, as he was claiming his car park fee.
*Overnight laundry blowing dry outside. A 30 mins at 30 deg wash shortly going in, then another overnight load, which works out half price on Economy 7.
*Get chilli recipe into slow cooker.......it only takes 4 hours.
*Make a batch of garlic flatbreads to use up leftover yoghurt which has been lurking in the fridge for a while.
*Bake a wholemeal loaf - just about to go & give it a knead.
*Make tomorrow's packed lunch.
*Strip chicken carcass brought back from Mum's yesterday. I sliced off some chicken for her to make a sandwich for her lunch today, but I know she would just chuck the rest of it in the bin if I left it, so I brought it back.
*Water veggie garden.
*Tidy, tidy, tidy......not money saving, but it will make me feel a whole lot better. We were out for most of the weekend & so the house has suffered & needs a good straightening-out.
Had fully intended to do my mid-month budget check-in today but will now not have sufficient time to do it properly, so I have put it as tomorrow's No. 1 job.
OK, time to sort out that bread dough & rest of the laundry.

Morning all. My first job this morning was to reconcile all my accounts onto YNAB, as a bonus I had totally forgotten about my child benefit, so that was a welcome surprise this am!
I'm cooking a roast chicken today which should do us for today and a few more meals also....the week is due to be warm so I feel some chicken salads coming on!
Today still to do...
-investigate some home made cleaning products
-sort through eBay box
-collect all loose change in the house0 -
Afternoon all, hoping a new week will bring new fortunes to us all. My list today:
Work from Home, no commute :j
3 loads of washing done, 2 dried, one still to go out as I've just had to put in on spin again as it was still soaking. Hope it works this time
Triage fridge, loads of bits in various pots from weekend. Have served as lunch for us all today and will be the same tomorrow. Also have a chicken carcass to go in sc.
clean bathroom
Dd going to party, present and card from stash
Want to go to the gym later if DH home in time
Check banking and surveys, update my sheet
Early evening, were still feeling the effects of busy weekend
Put vets forms in bag to post at work tomorrow
Ok, off to do last bit of work before I pick up smalls.0 -
I find cleaning good for the soul 1luckylady!
Added to my money saving list for today....
- Washed all the bedding, dried beautifully outside in this fresh breeze we have
- Called Sainsburys and actually complained about some bad nectarines that were in our order. I normally wouldn't bother but today I did, as this is the new me, and now I have a £1.20 voucher towards the next food shop

Hi all,
Happy Monday n all that!
Feeling slightly refreshed after a leisurely and fairly frugal weekend away in Scarborough. Had a nice guesthouse - nothing fancy but comfy bed, lovely shower, huge fluffy towels and the ability to use the bathroom without anybody shouting "Mummy!" - bliss! Only £40 too so ticked frugal boxes.
Usually food is our nemasis when we are out - both for waistline and wallet but we found a lovely little cafe in the market - run as a social enterprise to help the homeless. I had a posh fishfinger sandwich and husband had scampi, haddock and scallop platter both came with gorgeous chunky chips and salad and a mug of tea and we were both absolutely stuffed for £10 ( Well £12 as they had a "pay it forward scheme" so I bought extra hot drinks for the homeless shelter but I think thats allowable really)
We did lots of walking and looking in the quirky shops - no buying though, looked round the RNLI, the park etc and watched the donkeys on the beach. Only financial outlay was - changed a couple of pound into 2p's for the amusements, had a cheap ice cream each and we shared a small fish and chips for lunch as we werent massively hungry. So actually we were fully entertained for two days with minimal cost.
Loved scarborough and could have stayed much longer but unfortunately you have to come back to work and reality.
Speaking of which, on to this week's small things.
:A cooked rubber chicken - should last for a good few meals
:A found potato caserole at back of cupboard so will use for tea
:A got Mr M order as had £10 off voucher - some of the meat was short dates so driver refunded and let me keep it - also gave me 4 free gingerbread men for the inconvenience (planned to freeze it anyway so makes no difference to me)
:A got £15 cashback from bank for shopping at morrisons - had forgotten about the offer so a nice bonus
:A bought nappies from @sda as they were on offer for £4 and had £2 off vouchers
:A £2 amazon giftcard from ipsos
:A dog sitting so paid £30 for that - will go to debt fund
:A hired carpet cleaner to clean filthy carpets at rental property - mum decided to do her carpet too so gave me half of rental charge
:A no tv on until 8.30pm - couldnt stop the boys from craving the football any longer
:A got new work laptop - doesnt need to be constantly plugged in like the old one so hopefully cheaper on electric.
:A joined ice loyalty scheme using link on MSE email - will get £10 worth of points to spend
:A will be NSD tomorrow
:A Got 18 free eggs from mums chickens
:A bought ox cheek from Mr M - marked at £3.75 but they only charged me £2.25 - will do in slow cooker with leftover red wine and some veggies - should be good for a few meals
