    Multiple choice
    a) Would you like to see my confirmation letter from Highways England?
    or
    b) My Highway England cheque?
    or
    c) Would you like my Highway England reference number for you to do your own checks on my case?
    or
    d) See all 3?

An easy way to shut him up is to post your letter.

Just the one - A - will be more than enough for me, ta. Don't forget to blank off your name and address details.

I'm surprised you succeeded and [STRIKE]I'm happy to have been[/STRIKE] I'll happily be proved wrong.
Thought this needed a bit of editing.

I also find the OP's result very surprising.

This will be a real game-changer which will be a great help to many many people.

I look forward to seeing the letter from Highways England where they accept responsibility for the damage.

I would also be interested in seeing one as 3rd party claims against the Highways Agency (now Highways England) have, since privatisation first started, been covered by the maintenance contractor's insurance. The maintenance contractors are also responsible for issuing invoices, etc when a 3rd party has damaged Highways England infrastructure.

    Just to let you know.....
MY CLAIM WAS SUCCESSFUL AND A CHEQUE IS IN THE POST.

A learning curve for the doubters

I'll update with a photo of my cheque as soon as it arrives :)

I was mis-sold a greenhouse and came to these forums for advice. I was called a liar, told I had no chance, bullied and verbally abused.

But I got a full refund as well as all my costs - and still have the greenhouse to boot!

People on here say a lot of things with a lot of authority, but a lot of the advice given isn't worth a thing.

Congratulations on your payment. Whilst I don't personally agree that Highways England should be liable for a stone hitting your screen (they can't possibly guarantee to keep 250,000 miles of road clear of debris at all times), my opinion means nothing. They deemed you deserve the payout and you got it. Well done - well worth the effort.

We all know both never happened quite the way each thread was concluded.

There's a world of difference between a supplier giving a goodwill refund, and you having a legal right to a refund.
