seems telecommunications are haunting me this weekend. As well as dealing with the shambles of Tiscali Broadband I have delved further into this minefield of premium texting.

Vodafone will not allow you to bar premium message being received and will also noty allow you to cap your phone bill to a certain amount.

They will how ever charge you £25 to change your number to prevent any further premium rate texts from the companies that refuse to accept your STOP message.

going to complain further after advise from customer service and at least get £25 back for my partner.

This is the biggest theft going and it seems you can't protect yourself from them. Maybe one for Martin to start a crusade on?

Taking £1.50 from my wallet without my permission and leaving a little crap message about astrology would be called stealing, why is taking my phone credit without permission any different?
"cui bona""who profits" The UK mobile phone companies take up to 50%.

In the US they have the same problem.

I was under the impression that if you report it to the police as harassment and get a crime number the mobile company will change your number, I thought it was for free, Orange told me to do this a few years ago when I was getting harassing phone calls, I don't see why being robbed and getting nuisance text messages is much different.

I've reported it to http://www.phonepayplus.org.uk/ too.

this is happening on my son's phone, we thought he was using up all the credit but it seems that he is receiving a text from 88888 re receiving text messages I know he is not using his phone, I have tried ringing Orange customer services, waited for ten minutes and eventually gave up waiting and they still charged me 25p. I am absolutely livid - they must have fleeced me of about £15 up to now, I am in the process of trying to put in a new sim but it wont let me ring 450 to put on some money does anyone know how I can get round this???

Ive just rang up orange and theyve give me £16 bonus credit and 300 text messages to use within the month. Ive texted STOP ALL to 88888 and orange said they would inform them to stop all text messages also. Couldnt fault orange customer services this time.

• After emailing support@dialogue.co.uk, they replied giving me Innov8's details. (I guess Innov8 is a company that uses "dialogue.co.uk" to send out their SMSs(?)).

The details of Innov8 who sent me the unsolicited text are:
Phone: 01728726977 (as stated in the text message, but I couldn't get through).

Email address: sales@innov8messaging.co.uk
Their (empty) website is registered at: Brighton House, North Street, Atherstone, Warwickshire, CV9 1JN

This should be enough information to get in touch with them for getting refunds and reporting them.

They never suggested this to us. ...prob too easy to bag the £25 along with then revenue they take in from these premium rate numbers. Besides by the time police report done they could have easily sent another 10 messages and we would have been charged.

I just phoned the customer services and a very nice Indian lady said text 83373 back with 'STOP ALL' and gave me the land line number, as stated by Wantmemoney 0871 700 2211 and told don't ring it from the mobile as it may cost a fortune.

Also recommended not opening any short code text ever! As you are agreeing to the terms and conditions by doing so, thus signing up to what ever they sent (incredible, surely you have to be given a chance to read the T&C before being auto signed up....how legal is that?) and she removed my name and number from being on their telemarketing list (I'm pretty sure I unchecked that box online on my account anyway)
She did ask if I wanted to change my number, I asked if I would be charged she said no.

So...er..... Keep calling til you speak to someone who gives you the answer you want!!

Just had the same message 83373 AstroJune rubbish!

Phoned Orange, my provider, and told there was little they could do. Unlike the user who suggest T-Mobile can block charge to account message. Orange seem to not be able to do this.

Have had to text STOP as advised by the Orange Staff, and just signed up with the TPS too.

Think we should all complain through http://www.phonepayplus.org.uk/ until some other way appears.

Very p***ed off
