That sad wee effort needs dropped in beside the fish, they can all be happy together.

Are they waving teeny Union jacks VJ. How do you tell when a fish is happy?pollyxIt is better to light a single candle than to curse the darkness.
There but for fortune go you and I.6 -
I heard him saying this earlier. I’m still trying to understand how anyone would be able to ascertain that these fish are ‘all the happier for being British’. Perhaps this is meant to distract from the large reduction in goods being shipped into Dover.8

I'm sorry to hear that your bargains have gone away, those you listed would have been the basis of several hearty home-cooked meals. I could have lived the week on those, with perhaps the additon of some eggs. I do smile inwardly at farmers' markets, or at least the version I get to see as a country person living in a smallish city with a very close rural hinterland. It does somewhat smack of the ex-urban luvvies playing shepherdesses a la Marie Antoinette. Still, they're keeping some old skills alive and there are worse things people could be doing with their time than making artisanal cheeses, aren't they?
So long as it's not Tiffany Aching with that semi-sentinent cheese whose name escapes me......... wanders off to do something creative with the 2.5 kg of spuds which Tesco were selling in Christmas week for a mere 25p.Those bargains were very useful, it was most of my weeks shopping when I was on very low wages, along with the daily market for some fruit, and the local Turkish shops for salad.I've not read any of the Tiffany Aching books, though I do enjoy a bit of Pratchett. I'll have to add them to my list.Grocery budget in 2023 £2279.18/£2700Grocery budget in 2022 £2304.76/£2400Grocery budget in 2021 £2107.86/£2200Grocery budget in 2020 £2193.02/£2160Saving for Christmas 2023 #15 £ 90/ £3656 -
What a mess! Drivers held up in the delay at Dover are being fined £300 if their Kent permit runs out while they are queuing.European drivers are avoiding UK runs like the plague and haulage costs have risen by 30% in a week. The thought of hundreds of thousands of tons of perfectly good food going to waste is heartbreaking. Will we ever recover from this?8

Brexit is here now. That’s it! The country voted. The old adage,’ Be careful what you wish for’ springs to mind.Chuck in The Great COVID Shutdown of 2020 to? and it’s welcome to third world Britain folks.

So the hauliers need to take this to court re the fines. Get together, get a good lawyer, and go for it. If nobody stands up for themselves then this is how things go.

There was life before we entered the European Common Market all those years ago and there will be life now Brexit has become an actual fact. It won't be the same system we had while we were in the European Union but some other normal will gradually happen and it will settle down to something the people of these islands will get used to. Change is never easy, we all look at only the bad things it brings but given time it usually shakes down and sorts itself out to something we can live with in the end.6

No need for some other normal. We are now a 3rd country. We now have to do as all the other 3rd countries do, if we wish to trade with the EU.
Welsh sea ports have seen freight fall to 65% of its usual volume crossing to Ireland (Rosslare) over the past few weeks. Crossings from Rosslare to Cherbourg have increased from (5?) per week to 15. Will the balance change in the coming week? Who knows.
Good jobs in West Wales are hard to find, and i really hope that employees are not going to be the ones to suffer consequences.13
