Just having the right Haynes is sometimes all the Prep you need for minor stuff. It's also comfortable under the knees changing wheels. (Not even embarrassed voice of experience!)

Good for major stuff as well, I stripped & rebuilt my Maxi engine using Haynes
Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens
  • Brexit seems a long way in the future if at all right now doesn't it? I shall look on this 'in between' period as an extended opportunity to make best use I can of the seasons produce as it comes available and make as many pickles, preserves and as much dehydrated food as I can this summer and autumn. If we DO eventually end up with Brexit happening I'll have more to see us through a winter of possible shortages and if we're still in 'nomansland' and it's still an ongoing thing that might or might not happen some time in the nebulous future we'll eat better because of the stores we have and it will let the housekeeping keep up with increasing prices in the shops. Either way we'll be better off! I'll keep a weather eye out for good quality bargains too and pick up good shoes, sturdy clothing and useful household manual gadgets rather than electric and manual tools too if I see them, an investment that might come in handy in the future. It's all gone 'off the boil' but I don't think it's gone away!

I think, now my family have got used to the loo roll stash, they'd comment if it were to disappear.

As for the whole "where did I leave those noodles" issue, that has become a sort of game between the young & I. Build up five packets, can only see two. Either they are eating heartily or their mattresses are aboard a sea of brightly coloured blocks of noodles.

Besides, I have my dehydrator & it's more than time I got putting it to good use on the seasonal (& thus currently cheap) veggies! The fruits I usually jam, chutney, crumble or plain devour raw but the colourful veggies & of course the apple rings dehydrate beautifully even if (once located) they last for moments.

I think a sack of rice I have may be tampered with to contain a concealed kilo of apple rings. As the chaps can find & use the Persil & I don't fancy inadvertent contamination...

Some time ago, Tesco were reported as renting extra warehouses and stashing stuff.
Now I gather they are to offer Clubcard holders big discounts on groceries and more in May - other than a splendid opportunity to stock up on things, does anyone sense a faint niff of cause & effect?!

Apparently its their "birthday party", but yes, There Will Be Loo Roll!
  • I think the local elections on Thursday are showing a massive protest vote against the lack of progress of the Brexit process, the two major political parties have certainly got 'bloody noses' if the comments people have written on their ballot papers are to be taken seriously and I suspect that if we make no more progress by the time the European Parliament elections for Euro MPs are scheduled to take place that the protests will become more vociferous and that there may well be pointed protests of some kind that will cause disruption of all kinds. I know I've voiced comment here about political rather than practical posts but I think now more then ever before is a time to look at what preparations you HAVE made and check for gaps. Of course we may see nothing more than people carrying placards and using their rights to protest legally and noisily but I feel that patience and tolerance is rapidly evaporating in the population of the UK and I have concerns that tempers rather than staying 'frayed' will become volatile and that people will use actions to express their displeasure rather than words. I hope I'm wrong but I shall make sure we are not needing to be out and about for a few days around the election day so as not to get caught up in things beyond our control, interesting times we live in indeed!

I think people will just not vote in an election which should not be taking place anyway.

Prepping carries on here as it always does. I need to actually use some of the older stuff.. DH keeps buying fresh ingredients which means stores don't always get used.

Will also be potting on tomatoes and cucumbers today so I won't starve!

  • That's a possibility too Jazee but I've heard conversations from folks who seem to favour leaving and their concern seems to be that if they don't use their vote, despite being furious that these elections are actually happening, the field will be left wide open to those folks who voted to remain and the Euro MPs will only be those opposed to leaving the EU and they might do all they possibly can to stall the process or even reverse the leave decision altogether and that would be so very wrong on all levels. It's a difficult thing to call and preps here too are and I suspect always will be ongoing and for many different reasons to Brexit.

Very difficult to call. I voted to remain but won't be voting in the elections as I think it's democracy gone mad.

Have discovered some out of date nuts. Think they might have to be thrown.
