Heyy MrsLW yes I'm sure most of us will be fine, we've certainly given ourselves a fighting chance
The EU seems to be making encouraging noises about the indicative votes this week, implying that if the ideas are positive and well supported, then they'd be prepared to consider a longer extension.
If nothing else it'd give us longer to prep, not just individuals but businesses and govt departments too... still lots of jobs going at Defra I see, anyone fancy applying for a laugh?!0 -
Of course, if the Grubbyment does fall, nothing will get done...... hmm, pretty much where we find ourselves presently, then! Think of the savings in wages and expenses - we could make them all apply for their own jobs. Which they might get again. If they're lucky. Albeit with vastly reduced pay and perks and muchly increased working hours and reduced pensions.
I have a vague recollection that Belgium spent several consecutive months without a government in recent years because they couldn't agree who was going to feed the classroom hamster, or something like that. The country still functioned tolerably well.
A lack of fresh legislation in general might be beneficial in all walks of life, not just the present farrago.:rotfl:Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Oooh bad egg that Boris, as if there weren't enough spanners in the works already :-((
I must cut down on my news watching, even Simon McCoy isn't giggling anymore. Up and down like a yo yo I am, checking my cupboards to make sure it's all still there. What a state to be in..0 -
A friend of mine just forwarded this email to me :
You’re receiving this email because you signed this petition: “Revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU.”.
Dear (real name),
The Government has responded to the petition you signed – “Revoke Article 50 and remain in the EU.”.
Government responded:
This Government will not revoke Article 50. We will honour the result of the 2016 referendum and work with Parliament to deliver a deal that ensures we leave the European Union.
It remains the Government’s firm policy not to revoke Article 50. We will honour the outcome of the 2016 referendum and work to deliver an exit which benefits everyone, whether they voted to Leave or to Remain.
Revoking Article 50, and thereby remaining in the European Union, would undermine both our democracy and the trust that millions of voters have placed in Government.
The Government acknowledges the considerable number of people who have signed this petition. However, close to three quarters of the electorate took part in the 2016 referendum, trusting that the result would be respected. This Government wrote to every household prior to the referendum, promising that the outcome of the referendum would be implemented. 17.4 million people then voted to leave the European Union, providing the biggest democratic mandate for any course of action ever directed at UK Government.
British people cast their votes once again in the 2017 General Election where over 80% of those who voted, voted for parties, including the Opposition, who committed in their manifestos to upholding the result of the referendum.
This Government stands by this commitment.
Revoking Article 50 would break the promises made by Government to the British people, disrespect the clear instruction from a democratic vote, and in turn, reduce confidence in our democracy. As the Prime Minister has said, failing to deliver Brexit would cause “potentially irreparable damage to public trust”, and it is imperative that people can trust their Government to respect their votes and deliver the best outcome for them.

Headsup - Victoria Derbyshire is discussing Brexit food and medicine stockpiling on the BBC news channel this morning at 10.00 a.m., so tune is to that if you're interested in hearing what some others are doing. (I expect lots of loo roll and baked beans on view!

Further on the Vic Derbyshire program this morning - 2 of the interviewees have medical issues that require special equipment so naturally they have been erring on the side of caution and have been getting a little extra each month. All 3 interviewees presented themselves well and without any shadow of panic buying, which is hopefully what we've all been doing.
I do feel for those needing insulin as they can't get extra, nor store it if they could due to its short shelf life.0
