I have acquired & am much enjoying "50 ways to kill a slug", some of which I wish to try on assorted Members of Parliament.
Meanwhile, I have a tip trip, a parcel drop, a son to cosset - things could all be a Lot Worse but I am looking a chopsticks in a new way.0 -
100% agree it's good to count your blessings, I imagine surviving a natural disaster is as much about luck as good management.
Conversely, our current predicament is largely man made, with time to assess the situation and make provision according to our own needs and vulnerabilities. Provided you're discreet about it, I'm sure prepping increases our chances of getting through any difficulties unscathed.
Meanwhile we have a two week reprieve, and I'm considering raiding the stash tonight for a celebratory dinner - condiments of the EU 8-)0 -

Thanks for posting that mardatha, scary isn't it? Forewarned is forearmed though for sure.
Don't worry won't be decimating supplies too much this evening - my carer is bringing chicken thighs over, so will probably roast them using of these new fangled cooking sauces to start the gravy.
My carer has been unbelievably patient picking up parcels and shopping for me, so it feels like a brexit dividend dinner is in ordahhh tonight0 -
Well I bought another 6 packs of toilet rolls today (ie an additional 108 rolls) making a total of 200 rolls for 2 people ...so I 'think' we have enough.
(I've had to hide them in the attic as a)hubby thinks I'm certifiable already b) there was no where else to put them)
Also bought 8 bottles of shampoo....again for the reasons above they've had to be hid in my underwear drawer.
Think I'm reaching saturation point.0 -
I've got 8 bottles of shampoo, too. Five of them I acquired for 20p each on sale earlier this year. It would have been rude not to, at that price!
I haven't counted my TP rolls, but there will be somewhere between 180 and 220, I guess. Not all in the same place, some are being stashed in the 'rents attic and 36 of that stash are being fetched up to my flat this morning when their car comes up for its twice-yearly visit.
Also coming with it are some tins, some more olives and some bottles of laundry detergent which were bought on my behalf on sale a couple of months ago. I shall be tweaking those extras into the various nooks and crannies and then really should run inventory............
Good for most things but would like to add some more EVOO, as a hedge against price hikes (there has been a poor harvest) but will have to wait for a good sales cycle at Liddly or Aldee.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I have to confess, I'm really, really low on shampoo
I have tons and tons of conditioner, my own plus some that my sister didn't like
but hardly any shampoo. To be rectified tomorrow, but only one bottle - I've been caught out before by buying in bulk and having to repurpose it to hand wash, its been so horrible on my hair.

I'm low on shampoo and conditioner too and not keen on returning to supermarket brands after a gift of Philip Kingsley took back control of my locks, bye bye blonde-fro hello nice hair! Homesense/TKMaxx often have cheap supersizes of professional lines, conditioners are a good bet as this is where the lighter formulas really make a difference. Most shampoos can also be diluted by about a third without affecting performance, good for ekeing out.0

I suspect my conditioner supplies (at one stage my sons irately asked when I was going to install a proper rack for all the bottles) have run down & I know I have only 2 bottles of shampoo as a child left an empty on the floor. (Subtle they are not.) Thank you for the heads up (as it happens I try to include EVOO in my haircare occasionally, so steps indeed) and frankly Pfah to the family view that I am increasingly a few sandwiches short of a picnic - I'd rather have it & at a reasonable price on my terms than want it & be hunting where to afford it from.
Not that number 2 son has helped with that - he has made further inroads into my noodle stash.
I have been digitising documents & deriving much comfort from knowing that even if I cannot put my hand on X (as it is in secure storage elsewhere) I have a picture of it.
Then I read this & frankly shiveredWhile the government has signalled that it will allow additional evidence to support Settled Status or pre-Settled Status, it has not yet stated what it will accept. However, the London Assembly have complied a list of documents and information that will be useful when individuals make their Settled Status application;
• Make sure passports of National ID cards are still valid for a while after 29 March.
• Keep all council tax and utility bills - water, gas, electricity, TV licence and mainline phone (mobile phone bills are not accepted) which have your name on them.
• Keep any old and current rental and tenancy agreements, or mortgage agreements.
• Keep any payslips, P45s and P60s, as well as any old and current employment contracts.
• Keep bank and building society statements, preferably annual ones.
• Do not throw away anything else that could be used to prove that you have lived continuously in the UK for 5 years or more (the longer the better).0 -
Good grief! And so many accounts are paperless these days
My shampoo situation has been rectified - I *did* buy in bulk, the one I'm currently using, seemed the best solution.2023: the year I get to buy a car0
