My iron is nearly 50 years old. There is a reason for that :D I don't iron anything, I pay to get oh's shirts done as I hate ironing, nothing else gets ironed. Nearly all my clothes have to be hand washed and hung out dripping. So by the time the wind has dried them they don't need ironing anyway. :)

I was with you until you got to the hand washing bit - I think I'd rather iron than hand wash clothes!

I iron our clothes, or at least my own if OH is up to doing hers, for the same reasons that I shave and shower every morning. I have done this for so many years (I'm 73) that I would not feel comfortable without that. I dress smart but casual (jeans and good Polo shirt) to shop or just go to dentist, surgery or hospital. Eating out or any social occasion, my smart but casual look gets smarter: sharply creased trousers, good freshly washed and ironed shirt, my one good jacket or blazer. I no longer posses a suit, but at my age many of my friends are falling from their perches, so the blazer, smart grey flannels and black tie come out. With the exception of a fun-loving mate who passed last year: I wore the most colourful gear I had, topped with a silver waistcoat. Got some antagonistic looks from some black-suited and -dressed funeral guests, but his wife laughed until she cried, and so did his real mates and family, who were all dressed with just a little colour. I felt that my old and very amusing mate was watching and enjoying my efforts.

Again, I do this because that is how I have always done it. As I have shrunk 2" in height from spinal problems and 2 waist sizes due to Pancreatic cancer chemo, I still need to know that I don't look anything but human, so some new clothes have become necessary. I don't really give a damn what anyone else thinks about the way I look at any time, it's just a matter of personal pride, that most of my generation possessed.
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

My clothes tend to be very colorful ethnic type stuff, so no choice really, otherwise all the colors would run and I'd be left with a one color mess :D

Yes, so has mine, but I'd still have to do them one at a time because the colors run so much.

So has mine but I'd never get a load of them together at any one time to be worth running the machine so I don't think I've ever used the programme.

The link doesn't work, but I was offered dye colour catcher sheets on Amazon. I never found they worked very well: sheet went grey, and then everything went murky next time around.

Yes they were Colour Catchers - you have to use them each time you wash things that might run (or if you do a mixed dark/light wash) - it's not a one off process.
