RE: carbon monoxide
I was on holiday and met a lovely couple. We met up and went for meals together etc.
After getting to know them a bit the guy mentioned that he had been married before but that his wife would tell me about it when he was not present.
Mmm, I thought this is strange and mentioned to OH that maybe he murdered her and met his second wife after spending time in the nick.
When she told me, it was one of the saddest things I had ever heard.
He was stationed as a soldier in Cyprus when he was told he would have to make his way home as his wife and mother had died from carbon monoxide poisoning. He left his barracks and started heading home by train, got into an argument and was put under arrest. When he faced his charge in military court, the judge was horrified at this guys plight and ordered that he was escorted by plane to his homeland, stating that he should never have been left to travel alone in such circumstances.
His mother visited his wife every Friday and they would have dinner and watch telly etc. Both of them died... just drifting away with no warning. Her sister found them a few days later when she couldn't get in and looked through the window.
The wife was in her early 20s and pregnant.
I still shiver when I think of this.0 -
