The technical background of these people is non existent, it's clearly all about the money. Last time somebody phoned up about this I pretended it was Windows 95 and I could tell from the way the guy was talking he didn't have a clue that his shiny new Ayama or whatever remote control software they were going to peddle didn't work on Windows 95 and AFAIK hadn't worked on anything earlier than XP since about 2003.

Anyway I happened to mention it was Windows 95 and it didn't have a modem so how could it tell you had issues? Line went dead after that. But it was fun while it lasted.

    Blimey! That's quite an accusation!
  • I always ask them for the IP address these alerts they are receiving are coming from. That seems to shut them up!

We threw our token ring hardware out when we moved office three years ago. Most of the interface cards were microchannel architecture so we didn't have anything left to plug them into :rotfl:

Brilliant. It amazes me that Token ring is still used, albeit by a tiny number of people.
