Hi Browntoa. Non techie here.
Do I need to back up anything first before installing superantispyware?
Thanks
It's just a program like any other. So although you could say there's no need to backup, you should be backing up anyway. If hypothetically your PC was stolen and you don't think that'd mean losing any important data permanently then you don't need to backup."She is quite the oddball. Right you are, doing it now. Superantispyware is a new one for me, it'll join the mounting list of other programs......:rolleyes:0

Went in for a looksee - and couldnt see whether its okay for Vista users - any idea?
On t'other hand - do I need anything else security-wise - as Virgin FINALLY laid on PcGuard for Vista users and I signed up for PCGuard Total - so I can wash my hands of PC security - its Virgins responsibility now?0 -
Anyone?0

I would always scan with various bits of software on a random basis
ie..I use AVG antivirus but from time to time run a scan with one of the free online scanners like housecallEx forum ambassador

Thanks for that.
Oh well - running a Superantispyware thingie now - the free version - as you suggested. So far its found 12 harmless-looking ad thingies and one spybot ("not a threat") put by that. At a loss as to how something can be described as a spybot - but not a threat. Anyways - am sitting it out waiting for the scan to finish - and presumably for SuperAS to throw overboard owt it finds that it doesnt like in the course of it.
Thinks.....wouldnt it be nice if in the process it finds something that would appear to be the cause of my YouTube clips 95% of the time downloading too slowly and hiccuping their way through - meaning its virtually impossible for me to watch YouTube evenings/weekends - when it never used to be a problem. And heres me wondering whether I need to ditch my 2Mb broadband speed for an 8mb speed - as, at moment, I think thats the probable "culprit".!!0 -
Cant believe I forget this one. A good way of dramatically cutting down your chances of picking up a nasty while browsing the web is by ditching Internet Explorer and using Mozillas Firefox instead. Although not completely immune from threats itself, Firefox is hands down a much safer browser to surf the web with than IE. Its faster too and has some great features and plugins!
