Thankyou to all the mse team for all your hard work. Thankyou Martin for caring so much and also a big thank you to the other sites most of us visited for making us all feel welcome.xx0

I personally think you may be attacking us because you see this website as having a heavy emphasis on debt - and you believe debt is wrong.
All of this speculation is essentially pointless. There is no evidence of anything, and until there is, let's just say that it's good the site is back up, and given that the forum has been quite liable to go down in the past, hopefully at least some good will come in that the site will be more resilient for the future.
The claim there is a link to the PPI campaign is frankly a little silly, it can be very hard to work out what is going on when a site is flooded by connections, so let us just wait and see.0 -

Just wondered because I keep seeing the two linked. If so, no doubt the evidence will be forwarded to officer Dibble who will shortly be kicking down the doors of certain financial institutions.
If not, on the other hand...
I personally think the two are coincidental. The reputation of financial service companies would be too much of a gamble. I hope mentioning 'PPI' and 'DDOS attack' in the same breath is an attempt to kick-start the PPI campaign into full swing rather than link the 2, unless there is substantial proof.
A more believable case:
This forum has been a great way to educate users about the 419 scams which have been going around. It's well documented in computer security circles that the criminal groups running these scams have resorted to DDOS attacks on sites educating users on scams either as revenge or just to stop them doing the excellent job they're doing.
Illegal gangs involved in fraudulently extracting money from vulnerable people are far more likely to target MSE than financial institutions which - regardless of how immoral their behaviour may seem at times - have a reputation and level of legal legitimacy in what they do.
Some of their activities may be unlawful, but I'd be surprised if they stooped to breaking criminal law.0 -
Sorry to hear about the attack and glad to see you are back. I do not do anything until I have checked the information on your site.
Keep up the good work

Hey
glad the site is back, well done all those who have worked their butts off.
This site has been of enormous help to me and my family and dare I say many thousands of others too.
Thanks
Who was responsible?, I think it could well be connected to the latest big initiative regarding the PPI thing, the mse must be a huge thorn in their sides
What I am sure of is that there are NO coincidences.
Thats just a word we hang on events that we cannot explain or have proof of cause. Its not an answer in itself but rather an admittance of 'not knowing'
Every thing and event is connected in this world in some way or other.
Keep up the good work all the mse grafters :beer:0 -
So pleased to see you back! You have given my family (and so manay others) sensible impartial advice on our money issues. Your forums on the site are such an encouragement to many ,manythousands. Welll done to your techies and good luck to them as they struggle on!
I'm a bit lost without the Oldstyle forums! Thanks once again for all you do.
I suspect its the sheer size of the MSE folowing that has attracted the attacks- jealousy ?0 -
So glad the Martin and the site are back, really missed it over the weekend.
This site has helped me a great deal and is one of my favourites.0
