Sorry
I mean how can I get round the problem of unlocking the phone. Is what Vodafone are asking really allowed . I just can't believe I have to buy credit on a phone that has been well and truly paid for via a 2 year contract.
The problem is that you didn't pay the contract so you didn't well and truly pay for it and are now wanting to unlock it, they need an active sim that's been topped up used for 30 days because it isn't your phone and their procedure says that's what they want. You have two choices, do as they ask or get the original owner to contact Vodafone and request the unlock from their account.
That is all explained on the unlock page on the Vodafone website.0 -
FIL SIM long gone and the SIM in it is active , I asked the help line and was told it is active.
The original sim doesn't need to still be active, the original owner just has to prove who they are and supply details of the original Vodafone account.
This is the Vodafone web page
https://www.vodafone.co.uk/vodafone-uk/forms/unlock-code-request/
It says on the first page:To get your unlock code, we'll need some information from you first. Once we've received this information, we'll contact you within 48 hours. Sometimes we may need to get in touch with your phone's manufacturer, which can take up to 10 working days. We'll always keep you informed, so you'll know what's happening and when.
Please note: If you are no longer a Vodafone customer, you can still request your NUC from us as long as you previously used your phone on our network.0 -

Yep, this is correct, I recently unlocked an Iphone 5 thats been in the cupboard for a year or so. I just filled in the online form and got the code within a few days. I gave the code to the new owner to put in when he put his sim card in, all worked with no issues.0
