vodafone bully
hi
I hope someone can help.
I got an iphone 5s from my father inlaw when his contract ended and he upgraded to a new contract. I have connected the 5s to my apple account and all is ok except I'm trying to get vodafone to unlock the phone but they told me I needed to have an active sim in the phone so I got a pay as you go sim , activated and used it in febuary but never got round to trying to unlock until a couple of weeks ago to which voda tell me I need an active sim etc etc , I rang them asked the question is the sim active and when it was activated and low and behold all is ok my end. he said he would email the relevent department so on and so forth but then I got another email saying I needed to buy some credit for my sim and use it for 30 days before they can unlock.
I feel as if I'm being bullied into paying for something I don't use and question what they are doing in as much as the phone is no longer theirs as the contract is finished and paid for so they should just unlock on request , but as above being told to but stuff I won't use.
sorry for the long post but I am just trying to give as much info as possible,
can anyone help

Help with what? Buy some credit, activate it, and unlock the phone.0

Sorry
I mean how can I get round the problem of unlocking the phone. Is what Vodafone are asking really allowed . I just can't believe I have to buy credit on a phone that has been well and truly paid for via a 2 year contract.0 -

take it to your local mobile phone shop, it costs around £10 to be unlocked0
-
A £5 top up would be cheaper0

I just can't believe I'm being forced to pay money to unlock the phone , as I've said above. I'll probably pay £10 to get unlocked rather than £5 top in principle.
Thanks for the help0 -
Why not stick your FIL Sim in, then get it unlocked on line at Voda?Gardener’s pest is chef’s escargot0

Not sure what a FIL SIM is. And have tried online with no luck0

As you're now out of contract that the way it is. You have to have a live sim to get an unlock. Had you have asked O2 while in contract they would have unlocked it for free. Now you have to go down the payg route.
I think you're also find that unlocking shops can't do it for £10 as the only way to unlock an iPhone is through the Apple servers and only the networks can do that officially.0
