Halifax "Phantom Over Limit" Shenanigans

    OP - the reason this has happened is because faster payments are processed to the account the next working day.

    One off payment

    A one-off payment can be made online, through mobile banking or direct from your current account provider:
    • Halifax account !!!8211; sign in and select the 'Pay credit card' button. If you!!!8217;re using the mobile app, select !!!8216;Make a Payment!!!8217; from the menu button next to your card. All payments will show on your statement by the next working day
    Even though the available credit altered straight away the payment was not posted to the statement in time for the withdrawal.

    I'm glad they gave you a good will gesture, at least you know for next time.

    Well you haven't dignified it with a sensible answer. Why on earth would anyone (who wasn't trying to game the card, and had two brain cells to rub together) make a payment to a credit card only to immediately withdraw it again and be charged interest on it?

    e.g. If you paid £200 to the card and then withdrew £500 you would be charged interest on £500, whereas if you just kept the £200 and then withdrew £300 you would be charged interest on £300.

    The first time complaint will almost always be written off, it's just the way they operate if you are polite and ask nicely, you did wrong, they gave you the charge and to avoid bad publicity they give you the charge back. Once you have done it more than once they can't be blamed for the charge as you had your warning. I had a cheque paid it via ATM which wasn't cashed (there were 2 in there and they missed one) and without prompting Halifax bank manager in that branch gave me £25 as apology (the cheque made no real difference to my finances so that was nice)

    Credit cards are like a box of chocolates..some look pretty and others look plain,some give great pleasure like a Orange cream and other leave a bitter taste in your mouth say like a coffee cream.

    Open the box make your choice and enjoy the rest of your day.

    Obviously the above has nothing to do with Halifax and has nothing to do with you going over your limit...keep under your limit and you"ll feel like an Orange cream has gushed in your mouth.

    (Or just smoke Spice and be carefree...lol)
