  • I agree with the majority - you agreed to pay £2.99 for postage and it was delivered safe and secure for £2.99 what else do you want?

I say well done to the sender for recycling , makes perfect sense to me

You can ONLY LEAVE VERY POSITIVE FEEDBACK - bullying a refund when you are not due or entitled to one is not fair

Personally i would refund the £1 you were given and perhaps a note saying you were a bit hasty in your comments would suffice

Do not take this personally these are just my thoughts and you did ask what people thought

  • i can honestly say im very shocked!!
didnt think i get nasty comments from mse!

i only asked if i was fair, yes i did go into a contract as i saw the price of item and postage a reasonable price and she didnt forfill the the full postage price.she actually told me the post office is foot steps away from her flat so didnt taske much to post it along with re using a bag which yes i agree with recycling i do it! and yes the fees probably came to about 50p or around that so 70p add 50p = £1.20 and i asked for £1 i think i was reasonable.

and not forgetting she said it was the way people made money out of ebay through postage i disagree! you get your money from selling the item.buyers pays for postage which should cover tyhe actual cost of item packaging and fees.UNLESS poeple state in their auctions no extra fees for paypal!

when i sell on ebay i certainly dont charge extra for paypal as its the safer way off paying.

i dont rip people off through selling my things so i dont expect it back.

as others have said you could clearly see the cost listed, just because it cost her that much is neither here nor there,

to save on ebay selling fees some people put more on the postage as that does not incurr the selling fee%

again nothing wrong there,I know that if youd asked me for a refund I would have told you to get lost

Hmm, so if the seller had decided that she didn't want to part with a brand new with tags item that had cost her significantly more than 2.99, would that have been OK with you?

You got a bargain and you were asked to pay reasonable postage. You really took advantage of the seller and, at the very least, owe her an apology.

You're shocked you got nasty comments...I'm shocked anyone could be so greedy.

When deciding whether or not to bid for an item I look at the combined cost, including P&P and decide whether I think the item is worth that amount to me - in this case a BNWT top for £5.98. I consider whether I'd find it in the shops for that, take into account the cost of petrol and parking, my time trudging round the shops. Then I decide whether or not I'm prepared to bid. when it arrives, if I like the item, I'm happy. if I don't, I put it down to experience and relist. I never look at the cost of P&P and begrudge the seller this. Also, it can be hard to judge the actual amount - I post from several POs. One is really strict about what it will permit as 'large letter' - if its not in an envelope(ie, in a plastic bag, slim cardboard box or wrapped in brown paper) even if it fits easily through the slot, they say its a packet and charge accordingly.

i've got to say i totally agree with hippygirl, i always look at the p+p costs as sometimes its obvious that sellers are trying to rip you off. If i'm not happy then i dont bid

Come not 1 person here has agreed with your actions, stop trying to make excuses and do the right thing!

I'm sorry Sssssss, but I disagree with you. I guess you've missed my earlier posts (on page 1) in order to come out with such a large sweeping statement like the above.

Some of the posts on here are tantamount to being abusive and not one bit constructive. That said it's quite an enlightening experience coming up against a mass of people you (as in me) disagree with. I've accepted that postage on ebay has some secret meaning.

I almost sent a pm to liamsmum05 this afternoon to say I understood where she's coming from. I think people come on MSE for advice and support. It's tough when person after person shoots you down with what (I feel) are quite nasty and personal comments ('tight' b14ck, and Sssssss's post at the top of page 2), from people who have obviously never done any wrong in their lives. Personally I think liamsmum05 just interpreted postage as something quite objective.. literally 'postage and packaging cost', whereas for many other people it incorporates subjective opportunity costs like parking, petrol, tyre wear, extra mars bars to keep going on cold days, blah blah ....

Sure you can say that liamsmum posted on here, so she has to accept people saying things she doesn't like, but time after time people have been posting the same things over and over again, rather than accepting someone's already beaten them to it. I bet liamsmum feels put off ever posting on MSE for advice again. I know I'll be more cautious.

'Postage' in the ebay help section encompases reasonable charges for shipping/posting, packaging and handling. Maybe I'm naiive but I don't see profit as relevant. The ebay definition seems to have warped into something much looser and difficult to pin down. Why if someone takes postage literally are they subjected to the witch-hunt-esque/righteous behaviour here?
