i bought my other half a brand new with tags red herring top for £2.99 including £2.99 postage i was the only bidder.
i recieved the top and looked at the postage stamp and it cost 70p to post!
the bag was reused as had her address inside so cost her nothing but 70p to post.
i emailed her basically saying i had been ripped off on postage as she charged me £2.99 the bag was reused so only cost her or me 70p and she made a £2.29 so i asked for my difference back only a pound which i thought was fair.
i got an email back saying this is how everyone makes extra on ebay through postage,i replyed its called ripping poeple off! which it is.
she eventually gave me a pound back on the postage so stil made a £1.29 profit.i also understand the time and money to put on ebay which is why i only asked for a pound back.but i found her very rude on the subject.
any opinions? and any advice on what feedback i should leave her?
thanks

If you paid via paypal then she wouldn't have made £1.29 though as the fees are high. You aren't allowed to ask for the fees and they soon mount up on ebay and paypal.

You were happy to pay £2.99 postage when you bid, so why grumble about it once received?
I wouldn't have done anything so long as the item was as described.Tank fly boss walk jam nitty gritty...0 -
yeah its stated what they want for postage...it includes driving to the posty and thier time etc
if you dont like/agree with the postage then dont bid0 -
I wouldn't have done anything, really. As long as the item was ok. Sellers often do this on eBay, as the postage cost covers Paypal and eBay fees too. I'd leave her positive feedback, especially as she refunded you £1, which she was by no means obliged to do.Everyday I am asked to be a magician, in a world where magic does not exist.0

I'm confused about how much the top cost '£2.99 including £2.99 postage'? but I agree with the above.
There's a lot to be said for voting with your feet on ebay. Don't like the price? Don't bid.
I would think hard before leaving feedback - after all, she did part refund you, and she didn't have to do that.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
yup, remember P&P includes any sellers fee's so postage isnt just the cost you see.
TBH i wouldnt have had the neck with a £2.99 postage.0 -
I quite often charge an extra £2.00 for postage. Its not easy for me to get to post office living far from one so after driving there or walking the couple of miles with 2 kids and standing in a que for half an hour half my day is gone. And if she posted reasonably quick it seems fair. You did enter into a contract agreeing to pay postage when you bid.If I am late posting I occaisonaly offer half postage back for the buyers inconvenience.0

You certainly wouldn't have got any money back from me.
The postage charge is on the screen for you to see, if you are happy with the postage then bid if not don't, the Ebay and Paypal fees probably came to around 50p, then there's the time and effort it getting to the post office.
I know different people have different opinions on postage but I don't regard £2 ish on top of actual postage costs to be unresonable.0 -
was i right to do this?
No, you were completely wrong.
You knew what you were bidding for. You knew the P&P costs in advance.
£2.99 is a perfectly reasonable charge on ebay for posting an item of clothing.
What is your ebay ID. I would like to bar you from all my auctions.

I agree. I don't understand this stuff about people bidding on auctions, knowing what the postage is, then complaining when they receive the item. No, you were completely wrong.

If the postage is too high - don't bid in the first place!0
