sorry but i think youre wrong too. i would send the quid back and leave the seller glorious FB. and an apology.
the price of any item is the selling price AND any extra costs. its the total price that matters.
a camera from china may be cheap but not when you add 40 quid shipping!

if you dont like the total price, then DO NOT bid.
    Get some gorm.

What's all this about the buyer not liking the total price?? When was that said? Read the original post again. This isn't about not liking the price, it's not receiving the £2.99 worth of postage and packaging you bid on.

The buyer enters a contract to pay the postage stated at the time of bidding, sure. But that's the buyer agreeing to pay (in this case) £2.99 for £2.99 of postage value (delivery and materials) and conversely the seller agreeing to supply £2.99 worth of postage value.

I feel that the seller has broken the contract by not supplying £2.99 of postage value that liamsmum05 expected and enterred into a contract with the seller to receive. Sure you might allow some of the postage for time and effort, but if you bid on a three pound note and a one pound note got delivered, would you stand for it? What's the difference with the postage?

The postage fee pays for the service of delivering the item to the buyer.

It covers packaging materials, postal charges and TIME and EFFORT expended.

£2.99 is reasonable for a item of clothing.

£2.99 was presumably clearly listed in the auction.

£2.99 is in line with other ebay sellers and also non ebay businesses.

Try buying an item of clothing from one of the many mail order retailers and you will find most of them charge similar or higher prices.

I think the vendor was very generous refunding £1 and I think the buyer, our OP, was very mean and inconsiderate in complaining.

Liamsmum05, I think you should at the very least leave positive feedback. Anything less would be very unfair.

I don't mean to sound rude or harsh, but you did ask for our opinions. :)

'Sellers may charge reasonable postage & packaging charges to cover the costs of posting, packaging, and handling the items they are selling'. In that case I hold my hands up:)

I suppose 'time and effort' is so vague, postage really ought to be renamed as 'rate at which the seller will get it to your door'. I agree with you saying that liamsmum05 was very lucky to get £1 back..

I just bothered to put my previous post because I thought it sad that liamsmum05 came here for advice and got the unhelpful comment that b14ck put up. Criticising somebody in a constructive way is a positive thing, but calling people names.... it's not big and it's not clever lol

I hope so. This is even worse, IMO, than a buyer taking six days to pay without any comms to let you know that that is the case.

OP goes to a restaurant, sees bottle of wine at £10 on menu and says I'll have some of that.

On the way home OP sees same bottle of wine on sale in offie at £5

Hells bells I've been ripped off, OP legs it back to resto and demands part refund, how dare you make a £5 profit off me! but hey I'm a nice guy so just give me £2.50 back.

Reminds me next time I pay a bill I'll stick a little note in sayin 'don't like you profit margins' gimme me some back!

I've seen it all now, ebay is so full of....
