PPI Reclaims not covered by the FOS

Hi,
FOS has replied to me saying that Promise Solutions Ltd are outwith their jurisdiction(how annoying after all the time spent filling in the forms). They have said I could try claiming my PPI against the insurance provider but i have since found out it is an irish company and I only have a name and telephone number.
Will this be a waste of my time or should I go ahead and claim against them?
I am very confused by this whole thing and it really does put me off but I then think about the £2,000+ they have taken from me and I just get so mad!
I knew it wouldn't be as simple as going to the FOS and that would be it as nothing has ever been that simple for me!!!
Any advice on my next steps would be much appreciated as I have even considered going through one of these companies that does it for you but I've read on here to stay well clear!?(whichc deep down I really knew anyway)
In short this whole things scares me!
Any advice would be so much appreciated
Loan Facts: - £15,000 over 7 years with GE Money. Bumped upto £17,500 after the PPI was added.
Paid interest on the PPI through out
Cleared loan by selling my house earlier this year
Loan was taken out in Dec 2006
Had no idea I had signed for PPI
Used a broker from Promise Solutions who came to the house.(desperate times=silly mistakes)
Thanks in advance0 -
Hi, I'm no expert at all. I've dug out my Lloyds TSB Personal Loan agreement forms from 2008, and the insurance is referred to as LPI (Loan Protection insurance). Is this something completely different, or is it still worth a shot?0

It sounds like it may be but why do you think it was missold?0 -

Reliance have responded sating that as they were not responsible for the sale of the policy through Direct Auto Finance Service Ltd (DAFS Ltd) I have been redirected back to DAFS Ltd. There fore I shall pass onto the FOS and see what happens and post an update here.
If this is being duplicated in another forum please can you let me know. Although I am posting this as well on the forum reclaiming thread.
Cheers

Could one of you guys with Lloyds TSB PPI have a look at your agreement and the Terms and conditions, if you have them, and tell me who provides the cover. It would be wonderful if TSB actually used an outside thrid party insurer.
Hi i am not with Lloyds but Lombard Direct with the lovely RBS, whilst Halifax have agreed to refund money for the same reasons, RBS have denied me again and they stated previously it was not their insurer but they administer the PPI even with you having to cancel it through them and the interest on it goes to them!0 -
Hi hope I'm in right room,I have a mortgage with Barclays Isle of Man,I asked for PPI refund using template letters, they refused,so I wrote same to Isle of Man Ombudsman who replied saying as loan was taken out in 1995 ,still active an dpaying it,they couldn't help me. Can I use UK Ombudsman or do I just have to accept this, have read all info and it looks like I can still request refund if loan is active-help please !!!!
AND!! wrote to Halifax who I owe £8000+ too, asking for original agreement, again using Martins templates, theyr eplied saying they didn't have it with lots of legal words, saying they wouldn't be persuing the loan but that it was still owed to them, what happens next ?
Also wrote to Barclays Uk for reclaim overdraft fees which I applied for in 2008(again Martins letter) haven't heard back from them yet,it's amazing all these claims I could have-I hope at least one comes in as quite poor and have my debts with DMP.
Thanks for any help you give and Martin for all the info on web site and the letters, such a help couldn't do it alone0 -

You dont get to pick the ombudsman. You use the one that is relevant to the location of your provider. In your case Isle of man.AND!! wrote to Halifax who I owe £8000+ too, asking for original agreement, again using Martins templates, theyr eplied saying they didn't have it with lots of legal words, saying they wouldn't be persuing the loan but that it was still owed to them, what happens next ?
Why do you need the agreement? Halifax think you are trying to get the debt made unenforceable. Is that the reason? Also wrote to Barclays Uk for reclaim overdraft fees which I applied for in 2008(again Martins letter) haven't heard back from them yet,it's amazing all these claims I could have-I hope at least one comes in as quite poor and have my debts with DMP.
Since the banks won the court case, the bank charges reclaim issue has died a death. Nowadays it is all down to the goodwill of the bank.
