London & Edinburgh = Aviva. Your complaint would be that you took out the policy through an intermediary who, it turned out, was not covered by the GISC code and that London & Edinburgh was therefore itself in breach of the code by accepting business from an intermediary who did not subscribe. Had it not done so then you would not be out of pocket.

Aviva got back to me and said that Dial4aloan were responsible for the sale of the loan and insurance, not Aviva. They said I should complain to Dial4aloan, or the FO. I tried both but the broker is no longer trading anymore and the FO said that Welcome Finance who took over Paragon weren't members of the GISC at the time, so they couldn't help. Paragon say it's the responsibility of the broker too. I would have thought that if Paragon were governed by someone or members of the GSIC on 31st january 2003 then they are responsible? I feel like I've hit a wall now! Should i go back to the FO with the extra information that i have?

I would go to the FOS and ask them on the best direction you take here, they should be able to advise, good luck.

  • Hi
Is it possible to opt out of using a firm to claim on your behalf? I didnt realise they would be taking 30% plus interest. I have heard from them and I have been told that I will be getting £1,700 back, minus their charges.
  • Should have said that the claim is for PPI.

    Hi there

How long ago did you sign up with the claims company?
If not long ago you may be able to cancel with them, as they should have a cooling period in case you want to cancel.

Hi there, it is when you are "sold" something that you did not want or need and was maybe told you had to have it.
This thread deals with mis sell of payment protection insurance on credit cards or loans.
