So if you don't mind me asking, if a case of say year 2000 and that company were not under jurisdiction as such, for example the GISC before the FSA came in, are the FOS now able to investigate those complaints as from now then?

That would be a break with precedent. The FOS do not review complaints of pre 1988 complaints unless the firm volunteers to do so (pre-regulation) and will not deal with FIMBRA authorised individuals unless they later went on to become PIA (now FSA) authorised individuals.

Firms pay money to cover the costs of the FSA/FOS/FSCS. It don't believe it is fair that firms that were not paying for those bodies can then use the services of those bodies.

    Hi there

A few of us in the past have had ours thrown back at us from the FOS as they were not covered by these regulators of when we taken out the policies.

    Cheers.

As in the new thread started by tommy44. It's certainly worth calling the FOS about the individual complaint you have to see if your specific complain may now be considered.

Only on our website thus far. I don't think i'm supposed to link to it.

I did find it strange that i could find no publication by the FOS on it as yet.

I spoke to FOS on Friday, they are now able to consider all complaints for PPI including ones where there is no FSA or GISC membership.

    Hi Pinknico

Still waiting for the email unfortunately, just want to see it in Black and white, but on a few threads now this seems to be the case, so I am wondering if this has not been properly officialised yet as such????

I decided to email the Consumer Consultant at the FOS on this matter, see who gets back first.;)

I have been checking on their site as well for any updates - not come across any yet though. X
