Toshiba webcam drivers reqd

Hi

I have a toshiba Satellite P50-18L laptop whose webcam stopped working with errors saying integrated webcam not detected, so i noticed the web cam driver was missing in device manager. Ive scanned for hardware changes but no joy.

I went on the Toshiba website to download drivers but it doesnt have any. And im struggling to contact Toshiba Europe for support.

Any one know how to obtain drivers for a integrated webcam on Win 10?

The webcam was not functioning properly for a while and it kept saying no cameras attached or cant detect camera and it would work intermittantly but now its not working at all and missing drivers.

Win 10 is upto date.

Is there a 3rd party driver i can try? Any legit websites for down load?

Thanks

webcam support is pretty much universal in Windows and its far more likely the one in the laptop has packed up. It'll be quicker and cheaper, if not as convenient, to get a USB webcam. There's a few less than £3 on Amazon.

    On the Toshiba website:

I can see as far as P50, but there's no -18L. Do you have any better details?

But under simply P50 (with Windows 10 64 bit selected), I can see a BIOS update (tread carefully!) and simply 'Windows 10 upgrade drivers'. This could be a package of drivers for your hardware on windows 10 and could include the webcam drivers. Yes, it's a bit of a stretch!

I'm guessing P50-C-18L. That's a high spec and not old machine.Toshiba should be getting involved.

Do you have the latest BIOS installed?

there should be something showing in device manager, think on win 7 it was a yellow question mark. It should detect at least the device... should!

linux live usb or cd time?

There are at least 3 driver installation utils, I can't remember the third: Samdrivers vs driverpack. No idea if they have your driver, or if now win 10 is supported by this software.

    Above advice is good.
I see on the website chipset drivers - might be worth installing those, and there might also be a 'Toshiba System Driver' that applies.

I have already checked this and with my model/serial it does not list any drivers or info for web cam. From the list of drivers, there's nothing relating to camera/webcam etc.

Thanks for the link, doesn't look like it was ever resolved.

Should I install 3rd party drivers?

I may end up doing this.

I am pretty confident that it is not a hardware issue but a software issue.

    I agree.
My first things to do would be to create a Recovery Drive with the Toshiba utility. Then check you were running with the latest BIOS and if still no go, a clean install with the latest Windows 10 media.
    Sometime upgrades just don't work.
