Company is saying we owe £200 for used energy even though a DD is set up to take more than the suggested amount. Told few days prior to this we was in credit of same amount. Correct meter readings have been given which they denied recieving for several days.
Sse are saying we have used more than £1200 worth of energy in 3 mths. How do we owe them any ideas?

This comes up time and time again. Credit/debit balances are meaningless unless they are based on an actual meter reading. Do your own calculation. Look back to a statement based on an actual meter reading; take a reading now and work out the charges since the last actual bill. Take the credit/debit balance showing on the old bill; add the charges and then subtract all the direct debit amounts that you have paid since the old bill.
High charges over a short period usually mean that your last bill was based on an estimate which was far loo low. It doesn’t mean that you have used £1200 worth of energy in 3 months.0 -
Hi #Cantsayno - welcome to the forum.
When did you last supply SSE with a meter reading?
What did your last bill say with regards to the reading used for it? (eg C - customer, A - actual
or E -estimated)
Hengus explains it accurately in #2. It could mean any number of things - can you give more details?I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Because you have used more energy, or they have estimated you have, than you have paid for.0
