£51.01 spent this week, £12.01 was in Home Bargains and included a 12 cupcake cardboard box for my sister to take back to Ireland with her when she visits in September. I could take it off the total but then I thought what does that amount matter in the grand scheme of things and left it there. The other £38.95 was in Asda.

stupid question time.....how do you actually use a shampoo bar? Do you just rub the bar on your head or is there something I don't know and are they easy to use?

Hi Cranky40 - I wet my hair, lather it up in hands and then do exactly what you said, start rubbing over your hair. My hair is very thick, so i find i sometimes have to rinse and do it a second time; but then the second time it works alot better.

I spent £1.12 for some milk and bananas for DD1. i was going to hers for a change, as i have now finished college so my time is my own again :T. I normally add any spends for DD1 to a running total; but as she is struggling at the moment and it's not a big amount, i will just add it to my own spends.
Today i spent 0.75p in the Food Club shop on two loaves of bread, four limes and two bunches of spring onions. Then £1.20 on soya milk x 2 in Morrisons, so total of £1.95

    Altogether £2.07 to add.

I have an impending shop at Aldis tomorrow which will be cleaning stuff for DD1 and cat food, but i expect a third of the spends will be on actual food. i don't mind this though as i haven't done a big shop yet this month. I expect next month that will all change, as i will have a better idea of when i can get a big shop delivered; as opposed to having such restricted times due to work and college.

Hopefully i should be able to do better meal planning and follow the thread a bit more avidly.

I wet my hair and then rub it on my hair too, then lather and rub it in - sometimes need to repeat but it's normally fine :)

Keep going, we were all unsure at first, but it will become easier.:T

Thank you. I think I'll be over budget but it's going to be a lot better than last month and I've build up some homemade ready meals in the freezer. X

Been sat tonight doing some menu planning and online grocery shopping. Trying to get the best value from the money off coupons I've got. I'd like to try and reduce the monthly spend slightly so need to be savvy with the shopping and plan the whole weeks food rather than just the main meals.
Going to do some baking to use up bits in the house and to try a reduce the use of shop bought snacks.

Need some help with tasty snacks both sweet and savoury for my kids - 9 yr old has a packed lunch every day and needs a healthy snack for break time, 2 yr old has packed lunch 3 days a week, 7yr old on free lunches for the next few weeks but will revert to packed lunches in september.
They all need a snack after school and something after tea!

The ones on packed lunch currently have sandwiches/wraps/crackers and some veg, a piece of fruit, a yogurt, some crisps/savoury snack and a cake/flapjack bar. The eldest usually has a cereal bar/malt loaf or small bag of popcorn for his morning snack.

    It's costing me a fortune!

Could you buy bigger bags of crisps and put a few in a little pot in their lunchbox? This might work with popcorn too, although I guess you'd need some way of keeping the main bags fresh.

It might also work for the cake/cereal bars too, making/buying bigger cakes (or malt bread as you say) and giving slices might be cheaper than cereal bars?

Mine are all grown up so I'm out of touch with school lunchboxes, but individual things and bars are generally more expensive I think

It might even work for the yoghurt too, but you'd need more pots to put them in so would mean a lot of chasing the kids to make sure they give them back to you, and washing up!
  • Looking back over the month, I started off doing an online A*da shop via TopCashBack and should have got £5 cashback as it was my first order.

Nearly a month on, the stuff I bought (store cupboard, cleaning, dog food) has lasted really well and been really nice and good quality but the £5 didn't track and TopCashBack won't even query it til the 28 of June, which is frustrating

But these things happen I guess and hopefully I'll get it in the end....

Usual Friday shops - £7.40 market and £5.38 (after £2.83 ys deductions) Co-op. Didn't manage to find any rhubarb or gooseberries (not even in the market!) but did get strawberries and grapes, both ys, so they will do for this coming week. Other ys items were x2 small pizzas, carrots and fine green beans.

One week to go and still have £38.23 left in the grocery purse. I know I'll need milk again next week but if I have £35 left at the end of the month then I'll be :j

Today we spent £16.61 of June budget. Around £5 just for the ingredients I didn't have to make the dinner I fancied :o. It will do enough for tomorrow as well and maybe enough for Sunday though. That and there will be one lemon grass stalk and 2 chillies left over.

Today I'm having a home made version of Wagamamas Yasai itame for dinner later.
OH will be having pesto and goats cheese tortellini.

    June
    £116.26/£150.
    £33.74 left.

    Bulk
    £88.48/£90.
    £1.52 left.

So day 22 and spends equate to between day 23-24. So pretty much right as I doubt we'll go shopping tomorrow. Not bad.
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D

I spent £36.60 on food out of a total of £68.63; the remainder was cat food and cleaning stuff for DD1 which i predicted.

Spends so far this month are £102.73, very pleased with this. I want to do more baking, so i may go to HomeBargains and try and get some more of the 59p dairy free spread, instead of spending 99p on Timor at Ocado.I still have a bus pass valid til end of June from college, so i may aswell go out even if only for a few bits.
