I bought one last week from Zhavi. They only had pink in stock but that did not matter as it was for my daughter and pink is her fave colour.
It was only the day before that I decided to buy a DS for her so I did not have too much time to search around but got the feeling that £100 was the going rate and trooped off to town to search(would have ordered online but I had to get it immediately as it was for her birthday on the same day).
There were a range of packages but I ended up going for the one which offered a game and the DS for £100. To be honest I think you had to choose from a selection of (cheaper)games but I picked up a £30 game and told the cashier I was going to pay £100 with the system and he accepted it.

    Hi folks,

I'm not at all tech savvy and my DD has asked for a DS Lite for her birthday in August so I've started looking at prices now.

The only 2 stipulations are that it is the Pink one (which is soooo annoying cos the white one is about £85 on Bargain Crazy...) and it has the dog game where you look after and feed a 'pet'.

I've looked at the following sites so far and the average is £100 without a game and £107 with 1 game:

    Woolworths
    Argos
    Toys R Us
    Currys/PC World
    Amazon
    Play
    Game
    Tesco
    Comet
    Ebuyer
    Gamestation
    Zavvi

Any others that you can recommend please? eBay is fine until you add the P&P on

Thanks for any help - I know NOTHING about these game thingys! :o

If you shop at tesco, use the 1000pts that can be used for £50 spend at tesco direct, see within codes and vouchers forum. If you convert the pts into vouchers these would convert to £40 for days out etc, therefore getting a brand new ds lite for under £60!!!
  • to be honest I have been looking for one on ebay and the USED ones seem to be going for £80...have seen on here you can buy a new one for £85-£99 so whats the point in buying a 2nd hand nonwarrenty one!?!?

If you can pick up a broken DS cheap, you may be able to fix it yourself or get it repaired and have a fully working console for far less than buying a new one!

If the console is in full working order and the damage is exterior only, you try repairing it yourself. The cost of a replacement case is only around £10 from https://www.dealextreme.com. There is no soldering or anything involved, but you should be half-decent at electronics to attempt it. There are video tutorials on YouTube for disassembling and reassembling them in the new case, but even the experts take about 45 minutes to do it so patience is also needed.

The other way it to send it to Nintendo. They will repair a broken DS Lite for between £30 - £55 depending on the fault, you don't need proof of purchase and it doesnt even need a serial number on it. This means if you can get hold of a broken one really cheap, you could get it fixed up good as new for less than a new one AND all DS consoles repaired by Nintendo come with a full 1 year warranty, so it really is almost as good as new.

As a general rule, internal faults are at the lower rate of £30.50, and physical damage (cracks in the case etc) are repaired at the higher rate of £55.

We had a DS Lite with a crack in the case and because we convinced them it was not through misuse and the crack had just appeared, they charged us at the lower rate.

People do seem to be cottoning on to all of this though - you will see broken DS consoles sell on Ebay for almost as much as a new one!! But many people are expert Ebayers and know how to get a bargain.

    Hope this is of interest.

Woolworths sell the DS on its own for £99.99 - with the 10% code WWCLEAROUT you can get it for £89.99 with free delivery.
