Maybe we should all pop into Tesco's and nick some coffee and cakes to go with our free music? After all it's a big company, nobody really suffers do they?
Oh sorry, people who create music and films are meant to be poor - I forgot!
That whooshing noise is the point passing by just out of your reach. I hope you have a licence to listen to the whooshing noise by the way, because I composed it in d# just for this forum and its now being publicly performed on your computer.
Yeah I know.. I'm being stupid. In my defence, you started it.If you don't stand for something, you'll fall for anything0 -

If you sign the petition then we may start the process of getting an answer as to what is acceptable charging and then, Maybe, everyone gets a good deal!! Including those poor people from the music and film industries!Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0 -

Make sure they have the correct dimensions for your premises (the area the music is played in)
I know we told them our square footage & it was less than they were originally asking for (this was a few years ago but I think it applies)
If i'm out of date I apologise"Very funny, Scotty. Now beam down my clothes."

Don't mean to be pedantic but no one really knows if you need a licence. PRS say you do but they do not make the Law! Section 19 of the Act is what they rely on saying that section 72 is not applicable because it only refers to the sound recording in a broadcast , however section 19 itself only ever refers to a musical work as a sound recording in a broadcast and so many people, including some very experienced lawyers, say that section 72 excludes any business unless they are charging to hear the broadcast.
What PRS rely on is the fact that litigation cost will run into 6 or 7 figures and so businesses will pay up rather than pay for the court costs! It is modern day highway robbery!!!!
We have 141 signatures now! Please if you have any opinion either way, sign the petition!!!Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0 -

It just reinforces the opinion to me that PRS need to review and amend their policies if they want to be regarded as a genuine royalty collection authority.Always get a Qualified opinion - My qualifications are that I am OLD and GRUMPY:p:p0
