Driving license sent to our address - owner moved over a decade ago!

Another possibility is that he may intend to open, or already has, an account registered at your address with the intention of using it as a mule account - criminals deposit into the account and the account owner moves it on in exchange for a percentage.
Would the police raid the property in such circumstances searching for evidence of this and while there also search for evidence of drug dealing to account for the deposits?

Something to consider.

You can put land registry alerts in the deeds can't you?

A little update: my friend realised he was being taken for a ride so told them not to have the driving license delivered to his house. He also informed the dvla himself.



Mother of driving licensee then rang him and was really obnoxious. Called him all sorts! My friend now realises they are up to no good and suspects it's to do with motoring offences.

Glad he did the right thing!

Hopefully that'll be the end of it, although with people like that they don't always give up easily.

Thanks for updating. As we all said - it was a scam. If it was perfectly innocent then the mother would have been more reasonable. Tell your friend to have paperwork to hand "just in case" to prove who he is and that he is the homeowner/tenant. Probably never be needed but you don't know how his address has been used.

The good thing is I got myself organised for property alerts with land registry. Long overdue as I am a landlord. Added friend's address so if anyone does try to pull a fast one, I can let him know.



I couldn't add my mum's house for some reason so am looking into that!
