  • Morning all
Just got back from dropping hubby at the station, I can't believe he still has work as it was meant to finish weeks ago. Every time he get's to the end of a job, he gets offered another couple of days, long may it continue.

Hugs to Mioliere, hope things don't get too difficult for you.

Blairweech, the reason you got lost in Ikeas carpark was because the signs were probably written in Bristle, there was a book written once called 'Krek wayta speek Bristle' I lived in Bristol for 8 years, it's a beautiful city, but it took me a while to get used to the accent.

Csarina, good luck with the Buckets, my kids all call my exMIL Hyacinth as she is the most terrible snob.

Has anyone been watching Last Chance Kids? I know each year a large proportion of our year 7's can't read, not that anything is done to help, apart from a few people having meetings about setting up meetings, then the whole issue is brushed aside.

I went for lunch with a friend yesterday & we had a good natter, the only thing that spoilt is was that I had a panic attack on the way home, still I was driving through road works at the time so was only doing 50, it was talking about DD's forthcoming wedding that triggered it, I'm dreading it, but won't be intimidated into missing it for the world & certainly wouldn't ruin her day by not showing up. DD & partner have asked me to be a witness, lets hope I can hold the pen without shaking, lol.
No particular plans for today, apart from some housework & something warming for tea tonight as hubby will be chilled through working outside today.
I hope everyone has a good day
    Hugs Hester

Good morning everybody - I've been busy for a couple of days so not had an opportunity to post - but have 'lurked and read' some of the posts.

((((((((hugs)))))))) to all who need them and :j :j for all who are doing well.

My dgd2 has finally decided to put in an appearance (5.55am yesterday morning - I had 1 hour of sleep and certainly appreciate how all you insomniacs feel now!) - Caitlin Louise - weighing in at 8lbs 1/4oz (mustn't forget that 1/4oz!) and she really is a little :A but, oh boy, has she got fingers like ET! Can't believe that the midwifeactually asked dd, about an hour after delivery, 'What do you want to do now?' - meaning 'would you like to stay in and go up to the ward or go straight home?' DD has two other children at home (AND it's half term!) so immediately opted for the 'stay in' part - with a big :D on her face! I could hear her OH do an inward groan!!!!! She's going to 'milk this' for as long as she can (woman after my own heart). No doubt she will be home later this afternoon. Oh yes - one other thing - her OH chickened out of cutting the cord; guess who jumped at the chance :T !

dlb - you can buy packs of 'butterfly backs' for earrings for jewellers AND argos - would perhaps save on buying new earrings just for the sake of the butterflies.

scuzz - that's a wonderful idea for your old sewing machine. Not only will it free up space in your home but will provide somebody with the means of earning a living AND supporting their own family's needs.

AussieLass - I've never heard of 'Lettuce Soup' before :o - does it have loads of flavour - or is it one of those that is 'delicate' and served cold? Would you be so kind as to post the recipe please?

Csarina - good luck with your 'converts' - you'll be starting up some Billy Graham-style rallies next. Seriously though, they sounds a lovely (though misguided) couple who have had a 'wake-up call'! Hope they appreciate your advice and agree to follow it.

Judging by the posts, it looks like another couple of people sneaked in while I was typing - :hello: to HardupHester and Mioliere Don't go fretting too much about your daughter's wedding HH - just enjoy the day and all will be well - such an honour to be asked to be a witness :T . Prayers and thoughts for you, your family and MIL, Mioliere.

OLLIEBEAK - congratulations! Love to the whole family. I can't believe how early they let you out of hospital these days! When my eldest was born (err - 36 years ago!) you had to stay in bed for the first six days and the nurses gave you blanket baths then, for the last four days you were allowed to get up and walk around the ward for a couple of hours a day. You then had a whole day devoted to teaching you how to bath your baby and so on, and they only let you go home when they decided you were ready. All the babies were kept in a separate nursery and brought to you at feeding time. For my second birth, I was thrown out after two days and was certainly not ready to go home! Looking back, I honestly think the ten days in hospital was preferable - of course, you're longing to go home but at least you have had plenty of rest.

  • Just a quick rushed hi today.
will be interested to hear how the 'bucket' family do. Bet they are relieved someones taken the steering wheel over their spending!

Massive headache today, and it would be when i've lots of repairs being done and it's going to get noisy. Freezing here too and I'll have two of my windows out so will have to wrap up warm and walk round in our coats till its done.

Take care all and I shall enjoy popping back later to see what everyones doing today. :)

OLLIEBEAK - congratulations and your daughter is very wise!

    Morning all

csarina - your friends are lucky to have you .... even if they don't know it, or more likely, don't realise it (esp when you've cut their wastage back and they notice :D)

Haribo - I've joined you in the bad back stakes :( Not fun is it. Hope you are getting better.

olliebeak - congratulations on the new arrival.

    Snowy - welcome back :money:

Hugs to everyone else too :D

Well, I decided that the quickest way down the stairs the other evening was anything other than on my feet :( Oooowwwwwwwwwwww is all I can say. And I was sober too :D I was carrying a plate but luckily managed to save that cos they have stopped making that pattern...... I remember as my feet slipped, thinking that I must save it :rotfl: So, My lower back, neck and right arm are a bit worse for wear. Ah well, I'll live ;)

DS1 is off with his dad (see, I'm getting out of calling him Mr TM :j) to London until Sunday. They are off to stay with DS's godfather and they are doing the sights. I hope DS isn't introduced to "the other woman" cos she lives down there ... I don't think it's appropriate as we are still living in the same house, but becasue I have suggested its inappropriateness, "he" has said he WILL do it. Selfish good-for-nothing bar steward (Ex, not DS1 :D) He's not taking DS2 cos DS2 has a party to go to on Sunday (any other parent would have taken him regardless, he spends little enough time with him as it is  . He just can't be bothered with his youngest, is more like the truth)

Anyway, me and DS2 (who is the cutest and most loving little boy so I'm glad to keep him) are going to have fun ... as long as I can move :p Haven't really got any plans for today. Need to do a few chores around the house but will probably go out this afternoon. My friend up the road is off today and she has a house full of boys....(not like Nels though :rotfl: )

Food wise, may make some bread later and have a fridge full of veg and stuff so big advocado salad for lunch methinks  Tea will be some leftovers - steak and veg casserole with a baked spud. Have already had brekkie but may press the kettle into action again soon.

    Take care everyone

OMG I can't believe someone is finally wanting the recipe. :D Of course you may have it. It has a lovely flavour and it's served hot. Congratulations on your beautiful little granddaughter.

Aussies Famous Lettuce Soup  :D

    30g butter
    1 onion chopped
3 cups stock (your choice - I only use veg made with cubes)
1 - 2 cups frozen veg - I've used mixed, peas or corn
    1 lettuce - chopped up
    1 cup milk
    salt & pepper
    fresh mint - if I remember ;)

Fry onion in butter. Add stock & frozen vegs, simmer until tender.
Add lettuce & mint & cook until lettuce has wilted.
Add milk, seasonings & puree with stick blender.
Serve hot with a dollop of cream or yoghurt. Tastes good without. You also can't taste the mint if you don't have any.

Mrs Mix :hello: :DHope your hospital visit goes well.
Moiliere Hugs to you. HH Never had a panic attack like that but I can imagine they would be awful.
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    Morning all!
just a flying visit as I had a bad night and need to get myself sorted out.
I really sympathise with those who have problems sleeping, it must be hell.

OM is enjoying being made a fuss of by MiL so I am pleased I 'volunteered' not to go up  ! It also saved my plane fare... maybe he could start going more than once a year, which TBH I think he needs to do now she is getting older (75) and odder.

More house cleaning and tidying today, can't let it get on top of me.

Olliebeak :j :j :j :j Congratulations to you and your family!!!

Csarina  I am going to enjoy this story- just shocked that it is real. You are a friend when they need!

mioliere thinking of you and your family.

Pen Pin & Jackie O rest up and get well

scuzz do you know which charity it is? I have a hand machine that I don't use which could be useful.

    (((((((((((((( to all))))))))))))))))))))))))))

    Have a great OS day!
I can cook and sew, make flowers grow.

Sounds like me :D With DS2 I had him early hours of the morning and was home before lunch. Had friends stay for tea (already had shep pie in fridge) and was cooking for all the next day. Mr TM (as he obviously was then :D) told me I was only standing at a cooker so it wasn't hard work was it!! (As he sat on his fat ar5e of course  )

just a quickie before work - cngrats to olliebeak ... oh and the parents of course. I cut dgs's cord - with some help from the midwife as I was shaky and crying - one of the highlights of my life and definitley more fun than being the Mum. dd stayed in for about twelve hours but only cos she was v young (15) and her notes said there was some sort of protection order on the baby - there wasn't and never had been but it took a while to sort out.
I'm going to feed our children non-organic food and with the money saved take them to the zoo - half man half biscuit 2008
