Crazy Cat Lady Chapter 3 - A New Beginning

Morning all and Happy 2019!!! _party_
Two surprising things happened last night - 1. ex did not turn up (as far as I'm aware) and 2. I managed to stay awake until 1215. DD had asked me to try, so I did - we listened to music and watched the fireworks on tv (and I kept the cats in to avoid the fireworks outside). Went to bed straight after the fireworks and pretty much slept until 8am when one of the cats decided it was unacceptably late for breakfast and sat on my head until I got up.
I have a bit of a fuzzy head still - not sure if this is the back end of the migraine, tiredness or being out of routine etc. However, I will not fret - I've taken 2 paracetamol and had a massive cup of tea and am going to lie on the sofa and see if I fall back to sleep again. There's not a massive amount to do today. The bonus of buying all the prepacked bits I did is that I don't need to prepare a load of food - the pork is in the slow cooker and can be left for hours and then everything else just needs to be mixed and served really. I need to hoover (I have no idea how the floors in this house get so filthy so quickly), and tidy up in the kitchen. It looks horrific out there - cluttered and messy, but I'm hoping it's just a case of putting out rubbish and recycling, and putting bits away. Shouldn't be a big job.
I've transferred £50 into my fridge pay off fund to start as I mean to go on. The 1 debt vs 100 days challenge is still a week away but I want to make a start while I'm motivated. I haven't gone through any other financial stuff just yet as my head is too fuzzy but I'm hoping to find another PAD from somewhere todayMight as well do as much as I can while I have the time and motivation to do it.
I will check in later, but my fluffy blanket is calling me now.Not giving up

Glad the migraine shifted, CCL. I had a lingering muzzy head yesterday which eventually needed some paracetamol (which didn't work). I often get this when I've been eating lots of sugary & processed carby stuff. I ate a proper nutritious meal in the evening & drank 3 half pint glasses of water & the bad head shifted within the hour. Am feeling quite sluggish generally & am looking forward to resuming my healthy eatinh plan.
The slow cooked pork will be lovely. Hope everyone enjoys it x2025's challenges: 1) To fill our 10 Savings Pots to their healthiest level ever

My head is poorly again, and I've given in to my medication, again. Foxgloves, I had wondered if it was my current high sugar, high alcohol, diabetes inducing diet making me feel so rubbish. Normal service is beginning to resume - I'm having another alcohol free day and much reduced on the rubbish food as well.
I did manage to get a bit more sleep this morning, an extra hour on the sofa. Took me less than 20 minutes to sort the kitchen and hoover through - it wasn't too bad in the end. However, the hoovering seems all in vain as it needs doing again now already. I also made a start on decluttering from Christmas. Everything is put away apart from the tree - which I think I'll do tomorrow (it's on my frog list).
Dinner was pretty nice, even if I say so myself - cats are desperate to get their claws on any leftovers. And it was lovely to spend a bit more time with my sister - we played Cards Against Humanity  and watched a bit of World's Strongest man. As I suspected I bought way too much food so there's even more stuff in the freezer now. I should be able to save loads on groceries this month if I plan and prepare properly, so I'll put that on the frog list before I go back to work.
Made my teeny payment to my savings and also a bit of a PAD to the debt. I need to know I'm doing something even if I don't know the full extent of the debt. I also sat down and worked out exactly how much money ex owes me now and I think he's going to be very lucky to get any extra cash at the end of the divorce settlement once his debt to me is paid out of that. However, that is an argument for court, and not one I'm prepared to stress about just now.Not giving up

Morning all :coffee:
I suspect today will be mostly fuelled by extra coffee or extra sleep - I had a rotten night last night. I went to sleep after midnight and have been awake since half past five this morning, but on the plus side my headache seems to have finally gone.
I have already checked my banking and it looks dire. However, I am just plodding at the moment and remembering to do what I can to minimise the impact. I have arranged extra tutoring this week, which will help, and I also need to remember that ex will soon be paying maintenance for the kids whether he chooses to or not. I am reassured that I had already made some fairly detailed plans financially and frugally for the month ahead.
Naughty tortie has a vet appointment for her annual vaccinations this morning. I shouldn't be worried about the cost of this, as her jabs are prepaid. However, she has form for costing me a fortune at the vet - dental work, broken leg, cancer removal, ongoing digestive system issues. She's not insured and therefore I have to fund all of this. We'll see what happens and deal with it as and when the issues arise. It's a blimming good job I love her and see her as an important member of the family :happylove
Other than that, plans are minimal. I need to avoid further spending as I have no money to spend :rotfl: I may or may not take the tree down, and meal plan for the month ahead. Both of these jobs are on the frog list so I am very much ignoring them at the minute. I will be continuing with my better eating and no alcohol regime for the short term, and I will try and get out for a brief walk just to make sure I keep my head clear.
Also, am almost finished my latest blanket. 7 rounds to go, which sounds like nothing, but when one round consists of over 600 stitches then it's a fair sized job. I have lots of projects 'in progress' and am determined not to start anything new until they are done. It would be an achievement to get this one finished today...Not giving up

:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
This is me, wetting myself laughing at the naivety I exhibited just this morning. I'm not sure where I got into my head that I could ever take naughty tortie to the vet without some expense. Today was £55, and she hasn't even had her blimming vaccinations. She had lost a bit of weight (she has an ongoing digestive system issue) so needed her steroid and vitamin injections. The vet didn't want to vaccinate her as well as she's a bit underweight, so I have to take her back in 3 weeks to see if she's gained enough weight by then.
In for a penny and all that - I decided that as I was spending then I would do my online grocery order today and get my spends done in one go. I don't need anything, but as the kids won't even consider entertaining leftovers, or even the same meal as each other then I had to get something in for them. Plus I needed soap powder. So another £54 at Mr S and that really does need to be it in the short term. I want to scream that nothing else had better go wrong, but that is just tempting fate. I still have legal fees to pay and god knows how many things can go wrong in the house, or with the kids/cats/car. So I shall continue to count my blessings and take whatever life throws my way, and remember that I have a 100% success rate with coping so far...
Also decided to get on and deal with a couple of frogs. Unbelievably I have managed to get an appointment at the doctors next week, after work. It's a medication review but I've been putting it off. Also made a phone call I've been ignoring for about 6 months. And I put Christmas away for another year (that made me feel a bit sad actually because I've had a really, really good Christmas this year). So three frogs crossed off my list - however I have added another 3 on today so no net gain in dealing with annoying jobs.
As for crochet project - less than 2 rounds to go. So it may be finished tonight or first thing tomorrow. I haven't slept during the day so I will be heading off to bed early no doubt. Plus I have a really busy day on tomorrow so need to be rested. My next project in need of finishing is already sorted - the bag nearly fell on me in the loft when I was putting the tree away so I took that as a sign. It's purple so dd might want it.Not giving up
