Today marks the start!

Roll back to 2011/2012. I was in a debt cycle, taking out payday loans, not able to pay utility bills and in a bit of a nightmare.
This resulted in having 9 defaults registered against me and a CCJ for a cherry on top.

Lessons learned, money managed, being sensible means for the last 6 years the credit I've had (1 credit card £200 limit, an overdraft and a small loan for a car, which I was amazed I was even offered from my bank) I've managed well.

Today sees the first of my defaults fall off my credit report. By 30th August. They'll all be gone! With the big nasty CCJ going at the start of August.
6 years of careful money/credit management, watching friends get new cars on lease, putting a holiday on credit card, waiting to apply for a mortgage comes to an end!
(Don't worry, I won't be doing these things and going back to square one! Trust me!)

I just want to say that this forum has been a wealth of information for me and really helped me stay on the straight and narrow (been a long time reader, not much a poster).
There is always light at the end of tunnel and things will get better!

One more question, when does a default/CCJ actually come off. I'm aware obviously of the 6 years from the date it's registered but does it happen immediately or after a few days? Do I need to do anything to get it taken off now the 6 years has passed?

Onwards and upwards!

It will come off on it's own - you shouldn't need to do anything.

It may appear that it's a month late if your monthly credit report is produced out of date allignment with the CCJ date.

Don't panic - you've worked and waited 6 yrs, one more month won't hurt. ;)

Well done on being debt free.

I'm please you've realised there is another way. Wrecking my credit score stopped me spiralling in big debts.

Slightly concerned you're keen to get the record clean again, please don't fall back there!

    Well done
