Do the police do anything about credit card fraud?

This takes the cake. What on earth will they investigate then?
It was the same with the Apple store, unfortunately she couldn't give me any information beyond confirming that the said transaction happened in person at her store.
I'm considering myself lucky that I didn't ever have to deal with the police before this. Had no idea they were so lax about catching criminals. It's probably to do with lack of resources or something beyond their control, but still sad.
I'm going to do my best to try get the police to at least get the IMEIs and block the phones (2 iphone Xs it looks like) that the thief bought with my card.0 -

Section 75 relates to breach of contract or misrepresentation.
It's not relevant in any way for fraudulent use of credit cards.0 -

So would fraud come under the chargeback system?
You should be fully refunded for card losses.0 -

It's very much how I'd feel. But not how the law necessarily views it.
I certainly wouldn't blame you for the situation.

Take some solace this could have been much worse.
Once dealt with a case where the thieves fished out mail, used this as ID and set up call & collects with RM.
They then took the mail they needed and delivered the rest.
So recipient had no idea what was going on.
Months later they had run up massive debts etc.0 -
You will be asked to report the crime to Action Fraud. In most cases, it helps to build an overall picture of fraud.
If there's enough ground to warrant a police investigation, especially repetitive reports of the same nature, the case is passed to them by the National Crime Agency.
No crime is a victimless crime, however, if the financial institution have not caused you any financial loss, which is what fraud is generally defined as, the police normally wouldn't get involved. Since it was technically credit, the lender would have been the biggest victim, as its their money used for fraud. If the transactions were "reversed" - it simply means they've reimbursed your credit balance and will probably claim on their insurance to replace the money stolen from the person who used your card.Advice provided from this account does not consist of any professional knowledge. How long were you on holiday for?
Do you know if the thieves stole any other of your post such as bank statements?
You might want to pay for CIFAS protective registration in case they use your details to open credit accounts elsewhere:

In a dream world of unlimited resources, yes the police would fully investigate this crime. In this here real world where the police barely have enough time to investigate violent crimes, let alone property crimes, no they quite rightly* won't do anything.
*right as in 'using limited resources appropriately', not as in 'down with credit card theft investigations'.0
