foxholes - your DS3 could do with popping round here, I have a 14 year old DD who loves nothing more than a massive row. This morning I stood on the black box attached to her laptop cable whilst stripping her bed, I asked her to tidy the laptop and cables away for the day and she went crazy and called me a complete bi**ch.

When I got downstairs the dog had been sick so that was a good start to the day - hopefully it will get better.

Had a £10 argos voucher to use up from when I bought the replacement laptop last week so last night I bought a popcorn maker, I love popcorn but wanted to make it without any fat. Not strictly necessary as far as spending goes but it will be fun.

Called at Lidl yesterday and got 2 of the large jars of pickled gherkins they do, a bag of almonds and some cashews and 2 packs of organic cacoa powder, all from grocery budget and I was especially pleased with the cacoa.

Everything crossed that your granddad is better soon Fmess.

Hope your day got better dolly

I'm so tired! Survived my first week back at work and am ready for a bit of relaxing and an early night. Spent £1 on a coffee at work because I was desperate by lunchtime, and I have my shopping delivery coming later.

Fmess - hope your grandad is ok and that they look after him well.

Ccl - you have to pay for coffee at work?

Today I am grateful for taking 2 more bags to the Sally Army, for finding what I wanted in liddle, for free parking, for getting plenty of washing done, for a quiet day, for dh taking the washing machine apart and putting it back together with no parts left over, for a yummy tea.

We're going thru 'TeaGate' at work at the moment.
Everyone was (supposed) to be paying one guy £1 a week, and he was buying all the tea, coffee, milk & sugar.
However, he was getting agro from colleagues whenever he asked them for their money, and some people would say they don't drink the tea, not pay, then sneak a cuppa now and then.
He finally had enough a couple of weeks ago and refused to continue. We've been running down the supplies and people are now arguing over who's milk is who's, and using each others tea bags etc.
I've always taken in fruit teabags, so never been involved in the drama.

Had a nice chilled shift in work, then met with my bestie before she started her shift. Then had my music lesson. BF cooked some yummy jacket spuds for tea.
I never like the sound of jackets for tea, to me they are more of a lunch thing, but I always enjoy them.

Just back from a couple of days away, and need to sit down with receipts etc and update my spending diary and spreadsheet

So, here is the damage in the categories I am concentrating on for this challenge:

    Groceries: £84.83 / £225
    Toiletries and cleaning
    £22.80 / £30
    Fuel £105.41 / £100
    Presents £0 / £0
    Pet Food / supplies
    £1.10 /£15

I have already gone over target on fuel (understandable, as we went away for a few days in our camper van) and it looks as though I might on the Toiletries and Cleaning category (no idea why I overspend on this category - I am not a cleaning fanatic, and neither am I one to spend much on toiletries

    Managed a NSD today, only 2 / 19 so far though :o

Grateful for some peaceful days away in lovely surroundings :)

Hugs for those in need of them.
NSD: 8/19 Was a spend day. Got a few bits on way home. This will be taken off my list of things to get tomorrow.
Motivation: To be more mindful regarding spending. This is going to be ongoing. So far doing ok with not doing emotional spending and not spending without thinking.
Money: The budget for each category is done.
Me time: Just read my book and watched a couple of episodes of Murder She Wrote.
Move: Walked around school doing errands.
Activation: To get my spending down to a reasonable amount.
Arm yourself: Will have to stand strong in my quest against consumerism and acquiring more. Still doing this. Not being tempted by emails regarding discounts.
Donation to charity: Done for the month. Bag of items put aside for charity shop. Have registered for charity walk in June. The bus on the way home will drop me off near the theatre, for the play in the afternoon.
    Grateful for:
    It being Friday.
    A relaxing bath.
Using up more samples this evening.
Having a nice chat with someone on the way home who I have not seen for quite a while.

  • Evening everyone,

Took the little one for a haircut today and he spent the whole time crying and thrashing about yet she was determined to get it done evenly (the hairdresser last time gave up!). Will add the cost to my social spends but next month I'm going to have a category for 'other' spending.

Returned home to a letter from PRA group offering to settle a £3649.05 debt for £1277.17. Totally unexpected and although I was targeting another debt I am going to take them up on their offer. Now I don't have enough in my full and final fund to cover this and I don't want to break into my £1000 emergency fund so I am going to be naughty and borrow money from an account I have set up for my little one. Feel a little bad about this but the money is for when he is older and is wanting to buy a car/house/travel etc and he's only 2 so quite a bit away from all that and of course I will pay back what I take from him.

    • 12 NSDs - 6/12
    • Budgets - £250 food and £100 social - £96.99 food and £26.38 social
    • Continue batch cooking for the little one (remembering to include a larger variety of meals) - 3 portions of veggie omelettes and 3 portions of veggie lasagna made. Rooted around the freezer and we're running low on soup and risotto so I'll make some more of that next weekend
    • Make an extra £93 through surveys - £55.91 made to date
    • Continue building the full and final fund - £199.27 added to date
    • I'm making up Christmas gift boxes for local disadvantaged children. So far I've done two teenage boys and started on a boy 9-12 months but still more to get for him so I'll continue with that
    • Plans - safari park and dinner/new avengers movie. Will also allow for a visit to soft play and I need to take the little one swimming as we're holidaying in June and he's never been in a pool - safari park cancelled, soft play on the 12th with friend and her daughter, lunch with work colleagues on 23rd (just remembered!)
    • Read as much as possible - 1 book in progress, 3 books finished
    • Finish my final OU essay for this module
