I type directly into the forum software through a web browser. It’s a known issue but also has been a known issue for several weeks. MSE really should have fixed it by now.

My earlier post contained a lot of information relevant to this thread but because of MSEs glitch I’m sure a lot of people would consider it tldr
So what about this post was different? - it doesn't seem to have been affected like the others.

I'm pretty sure that absolutely no one knows, not the government, the FCA or Paypal.

Facts and Brexit don't really exist in the same reality ;)

Talk about a storm in a teacup.

If the OP reports the issue to Paypal then they'll write off the debit as the person is under 18 and it's a relatively small amount. The boy might be a CIFAS marker.

They've only sent it to debt collectors because they think he is of legal age and they might get their money back.

Heng Im guessing , gut feeling with no basis or knowledge and probably wrong but just a thought if the kid is on the CIFAS system surely he has the right to have his data removed or corrected (dob)?
Under the DPA if someone has information about you you have the right to ensure it accurate and if his accurate dob is put there it will show him as under age and maybe not lawful for them to put a non adults details on their system ?

I don't think Paypal or the debt collection agency knew he was under age.

He has only now told his mother that he claimed to be 18.

From other reports on the internet from other cases when Paypal found out they suspended the account and wrote the debt off.

Which mens he will not be allowed to use Paypal again.

His date of birth would need to be corrected if entered incorrectly, but the age of criminal responsibility in England and Wales is 10 years old, so it is unlikely he is too young to have a record on an anti-fraud database.

You are probably correct. But How can they ban someone they cannot identify ?
who do they know they are banning ? all they probably have is the account creation details ?
    That is inadequate proof
