im so glad you asked me this you have reminded me of a visit to a council location recently. A private company obo the council were inputing car number plates onto a tablet. When I queried the use I got response whether the car was registered to use the council site, the council database gave a three stage response. When I queried "how are you processing my data", i was shown the tablet and i was presented with a screen full of number plates which been processed. What i was shown was other peoples data and how it had been processed which breaches the data protection act maybe principles 1, 2 and 7, Clearly the system and tablet application was not fit for purpose and the staff using it were not trained.

Bet you felt a little pelvic sorcery from that.

You are utterly wrong. I queried once, with the ICO, if my numberplate and details could be processed by third parties and they replied they saying they could.

I trust their judgment over yours.

Where do you go with posts like the OP?

Say what most others (if not all) are thinking and the MSE police start handing out warnings.

I would sympathise with OP to be nice to all moneysavers but then people would start thinking there is something wrong with me. If I was to say that the OP needs to get a hobby then I would be waiting on my red card from the MSE police.

I'll probably just say goodbye to everyone now as I'll most likely be banned later.

Your email address is your personal data as is you car number plate if it is registered to you as a private individual
Your car number plate is issued by the DVLA. they hold your name, and address. This also is your data, the same that is on the electoral roll. The same your local council use to collect your Community Charge. The same address the electricity, gas and water use to bill you. The same address mummy uses when she comes around to change your underwear. The same that is with most credit reference agencies. the same that is held by your ISP to access this page, unless of course you only use the free pc in the library?
