To me they taste not like scampi but more like how i remember tuna tasting ( so little tuna balls). They are delicious with tartare sauce, and particularly with a jacket potato and loads of saladGC Jan £101.91/£150 Feb £70.96/150 Mar £100.43/150 Apr £108.45 app/150 May £149.70/150 Jun £155.15/150 July ££110.46/£150 (includes food, toiletries and cleaning from 13th to 12th of each month. Wow, even the smell was putting me off, they were that real to me. I do love the Mc Pulled Pork ones a lot, but they don't taste that meaty to me. I'm a Greenpeace activist and campaigned lots re palm oil, so totally agree re Iceland, was very surprised when they announced that. EDIT - should have added they also announced a while back they are going completely plastic free on own brand goods - which is huge. Leading the way - hopefully.
It's funny what some can tolerate, and others not!
The news about the plastic is great too. It's unfortunate that i don't generally find that much in there that i can buy, and they don't deliver to my area; however, i am moving next year and will try and pop in a bit more often. Or indeed order online. It's not worth the bus ride especially there to negate any savings at the moment.selloptape wrote: »Wow - I didn't know that Ic*l*nd had gone palm oil free. Just quickly totted up the rest of my spends for this month and I'm currently standing at £378.34/£400, not bad considering it was a long month. Shouldn't have any more spends so off to find June's thread.Grocery Challenge 2024

Ok, done my last shop for this month. Declaring @ £72.25/£80. Slightly under. I'm stupidly (over)stocked, hoping not to shop until next Tues. See you over in June.0 -
I have £33.27 left in the budget for the final week. So far on my shopping list is: 4pts milk (£1) and a pack of 2 haddock fishcakes (£1.45) = total of £2.45.
I've done next week's meal plan and don't need anything else (unless I spot any bargains of course) so should have a healthy surplus to divert into the holiday pot.
:)
Famous last words!
Went to the pharmacy this morning to pick up some meds, then to GP surgery next door to make a routine appointment and then on to Sainsburys for the milk and fishcakes. BIG, BIG mistake!
Admittedly, I had added a few more needed things to the shopping list so knew it would come to more than the expected £2.45 spend but somehow it turned into £21. There were bargains galore - just when I didn't want them. I managed to be fairly restrained but still ended up with 3 boneless chicken thighs, 2 fresh haddock fillets, 2 individual steak pies, a pack of naan breads and an orange fruit loaf, all YS.
On the plus side, there's still £12.27 left in this month's budget with just 4 days to go. I've moved £10 into the holiday pot and have left the £2.27 in my purse - just in case!Be kind to others and to yourself too.0 -
My last shop of the month came in at £33.68 and that included £5 of stuff for other people so I'm feeling confident that I will be able to make the mix and match eating plan affordable on my current budget."A thousand candles can be lit from a single candle without shortening the life of that candle."
I still am Puddleglum - phew!0 -
I forgot to update this last week, I spent about £5 at the corner shop and just over £10 on a top up shop before coming to stay with family. I've frozen some meals for DH, who is joining us at the weekend, and left him the rest of the cash for snacks. I added £5 to it, so we we're slightly over, but I'm still happy
Total for the month: £145/1400 -
Goodness! I just realized I haven't updated in about 2 weeks! I returned on Saturday from my girls' trip and I'm so glad I went. It was relaxing, got a lot of sun, and brought back a few local French treats for me as well.
TOTALS SO FAR:
€273.43 / €400.00
16 / 10 NSD
I think I might ratchet down June's goal to €300 and see how it feels. Psychologically, I think giving myself a lot of wiggle room means I feel freer to spend but I don't feel hemmed in. Let's see. There are a couple more items I need/want to get such as a bag of yellow onions and some blueberries on sale at Lidl but I may just push that to Friday, June 1st anyway since I'm taking that day off.0 -
Spent £3.50 on 2 tubs of Ben & Jerrys cookie dough ice cream while on offer at CO-OP.
Did a COMPLETE audit on my freezers, enough joints for 2 months worth of weekends, probably could get through weekdays using all my stored mince, beef, pork and turkey, some of the 32 pork and 32 cumberland sausages, ate 5 chicken sausage tonight, won`t be buying those again, and other assorted chops liver etc, 3 pork hocks but seem to think I found a 4th and forgot to add it. 7 salmon cutlets, and other little fishies.
Enough frozen veg for a family of 10, I live alone. 2 anonymous packets in meals I have frozen, think 1 may be some exceptionally nice lamb gravy I saved as too nice to throw away, and a ball of what I think is some pastry.Do I need it or just want it.0 -
Declaring £348.67 so definately over the budget! :mad:Grrr.. A mix of birthday celebrations and if I'm honest a dose of CBA with anything which did not help!
Ahh well, on to next month.. :rotfl:"There's a little witch in all of us"🔮🪬🧿DEBT FREE 06/2018Mrs SD’s Decluttering 2025 ⭐️ 🥇0
