HX Car Park Management PCN wrong reg typed into machine

My partner received this letter a few days ago from HX Car Park Management.

The driver paid for a parking ticket but put the reg in as 06, as they have done in older machines over the years.
This is the ticket they paid for (they keeps them all, a work thing)

The registered keeper phoned them the other day, while I was at work, telling them the driver had a valid ticket for the time they was on the car park, they wasn't interested as the driver hadn't validated it and they seemed quite happy to see her in court.
I drove to the car park last night to have a look at it.
This is the main thing you see, it's very large and between two pay points.

The only mention of inputing a full and vaild reg number is on the pay machine in small text and also on signs on walls quite a distance away.
payment post

Not the best picture, but there you go

In the vast experience that I know is out there on this forum, how likely is it that she/we are going to have to jump through hoops to bring this to logical outcome?

for the time being forget about what happened on the day
read the NEWBIES sticky thread post #1 and appeal as KEEPER using the template appeal
if they refuse they should issue a popla code , so wait for it and start drafting a popla appeal based on various legal arguments from post #3 of that thread
DO NOT reveal who was driving
DO NOT phone them again , NEVER phone a PPC up
parking companies will squirm and struggle to try to gouge money out of victims, they are not human so treat them as scum and plan accordingly
so a few hurdles to overcome0 -
I'm not sure if popla will help in this0

They are IPC?0

ahh , ok
well check what the IPC CoP says about mistyping VRM details, check what it says about poor and inadequate signage , and look up the law regarding "de minimis"
and use that template regardless to HX0 -
my main gripe was the huge info board that didn't tell you about the main info that could get you a 'fine'0

which is also one of the gripes the MP,s had when debating this sham of an industry on 02 FEB 2018 when debating the new Private Parking Bill they are going to bring into law , perhaps later this year
https://services.parliament.uk/bills/2017-19/parkingcodeofpractice.html
complain to your MP, we on here already know all about the issues these scumpanies make0 -

But if they do, HX use Gladstones and we jump through those hoops and win 99% of the time, in cases where posters stick around and follow all advice, coming back at WS and pre-hearing stage after filing a strong defence.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
