No not allowed to work, (not fit) but I have my regular customers mainly paramedics, as i worked for a Ambulance service for years, I also do my own thing, I can do a few hours until I get too fatigued, all since a brain injury in 2014. so have been told to exercise my brain, so here i am, using my advanced skills to help others. if you watch programs like cop shop workshop believe me it nothing like the real world.

If you have advanced skills you’ve no place in a public sector workshop.

LOL, believe or not Ambulances are highly advanced, the body builders use yellow wires for everything, its a bloody nightmare.
The training can be good, but the people that have been there 30 odd years, cannot put a cam belt on a Escort, LOL, i had to service all there cars.

As for the instructor he's in the car 100% of the time with students driving the car, he's bound to know who hit what surely? So it was almost certainly your daughter who did the damage - however, that should be covered by his insurance and you should just tell him a firm no and then ignore all contact unless it gets to the small claims court.

But he isn't, other students have probably taken their tests in the car too without him in there.

I liken the damage to an inventory if you are a tenant, you have one done when you move in and one when you move out, if there are items missing or damage done that's not on the moving in inventory, you are charged. Was OP's daughter told that if she damaged the car whilst out on the test then she would be charged, was she given the opportunity to inspect the car before her test to check what damage there was. If not, how can the instructor prove it was OP's daughter that damaged the car.

    My point exactly

Agreed - our workshop at work maintain much of the EMAS fleet & I know how complex the ambulances and support unit vehicles can be, even though I'm nowhere near qualified to work on them personally (wouldn't want to let me loose near anything so important!).

Btw no probs - my response probably sounded fairly full-on but that's only because it seemed like you were painting me out to be sympathising with the ADI (which I wasn't) - but if that is not the case then cool, and my aim isn't to get into ruckus with folk.
Plenty of aggro out there looking for a home already without us creating it ourselves, right?

Any damage that occurred while he was on a lesson he'd know about and presumably he'd give the car the once over after each test to check for damage that may have occurred while he wasn't in the car. So even if he wasn't in the car he'd know it had happened on her test and that she did it.

Doesn't change the fact she shouldn't be charged for it though, even if she did do it. I was just pointing out that he probably does know for a fact when it happened as others were suggesting he couldn't know for sure.

I think its likely that the driving instructor has seen the OP & daughter as a cash cow to be milked often (excuse the poor puns). Hence feeling miffed by the refusal of extra lessons and spurious "mock" test and trying a last attempt to extract more money from them. Not a nice chap by the sound of things.

During driving lessons it’s a shared responsibility of both instructor and pupil during lessons to keep the car and those on the roads safe.

From time to time occasions my occur where a driving instructor may not have enough time to react, causing minor damage to instructors car and not involving a third party.

During a driving test the pupil has hired the car and needs to responsibility in keeping the car and surroundings safe. All driving school cars will cover events such as major accidents and to an extent minor. Fault or non fault

In the event of a driving test the pupil causes minor damage below the insurance excess...eg £250
    Someone needs to pay?
As is the case for any car hire that is hired.

If as some people commented the excess was lower it still don’t help..
The car insurance company would want the driver details causing the accident in the event of a claim being made.
This means the person will now have to declare they’ve been involved in an incident where a claim has been made.
Any car insurance policy they purchase after passing their test will require them to declare any fault or non fault accidents! THIS WILL...effect the drivers premium for the next 5 years!!

    Is it worth it?

This is an 18 month old thread and the OP hasn't been since midway down page 2. I think we can assume it's sorted out now..
