I'd tell him to do one as well. I'd also make sure any potential pupils are aware as well via antisocial media.

My next door neighbour is a driving instructor. He has steel wheels with plastic hub caps - they're inevitably scraped to !!!!!!y!

I too would tell him to shove it.

The insurance may be different if she's under instruction rather than a test, as technically the instructor is in control.

No way should an alloy cost £400 though. Get the specs and see if you can just buy him an alloy yourself and pay a local tyre place a fiver to swap the tyre.

Just had alloys repaired, cost was £65 each so £400 is OTT

Tell him to jog on, your daughter ( congrats to your daughter) has finished with him and does not need him anymore, like a old boyfriend, excess, £400 for a new alloy, what was she learning in a Mercedes?
    was the car brand new?
also look at the other wheels and see if they are damaged,
We may not win by protesting, but if we don’t protest we will lose.
If we stand up to them, there is always a chance we will win.
  • No contract signed. We have had trouble this last week with him. He made her pay an extra £132 this week alone in lessons as kept saying she was not allowed to sit her test in his car till she passed a mock test with him. He has been a nervous wreck all week. We are angry as it is and this is the icing on the cake

Wow - how many hours of lessons in one week for £132?
  • It was slight scrape on curb while reverse parking examiner said it was nothing as never mounted or anything. It is only a scuff at edge of alloy
  • She has had to do 2 he lessons at a time at a cost of £44 per lesson. She has had an extra 6 hrs of lessons this week as he was going to stop her sitting test in his car

Alloys and driving instruction do not mix well!
But people like to learn in aspirational cars, so that little bit extra cost to the instructor gets a lot more business...

Have you not noticed how many instructors use Minis and even 1-series?
