Using up Ready Brek...

If you mix it with ordinary rolled oats for porridge it changes the texture. I would add it to cakes, bread and pancakes etc in place of some of the flour. If you check out this site, a lot of the recipes use the fine oat cereal in them even the veggie burgers (which I have tried and can recommend
)

I always wanted Ready Brek when I was younger as I wanted to have the orangey-glow around me (I was heavily influenced by the tv adverts :rotfl: ) but my parents refused to buy it and bought porridge
oats instead. Not the same thing at all
I also yearned for pre-sliced bread, too.0 -
I've just made some of the Ready Brek muffins that barneysmum posted the link to and they are yum!! Thank you.Debt Free Date [STRIKE]December[/STRIKE] June 2019

It's actually really good for boosting your vitamin/calcium content when you're eating on a budget. It adds to biscuits and baked goods pretty easily.0

Has anyone tried these without bananas? DS1 & I really don't like bananas very much, can eat fairly green ones, but don't like banana bread either - & DS2 eats very overripe bananas anyway, so any left over ones aren't a problem.
They sound great but I would have to use apple or other fruit puree for them...0 -
I use ready brek to make hobnob/digestive style biscuits - these are fab, nice and crunchy but great for dunking in tea too - we get through loads, plus they're much nicer than any shop-bought biscuits!
ALICE'S READY BREK "DIGESTIVES"
1/2 cup ready brek
1 cup porridge oats
4 tbsp sugar
1tbsp baking powder
1/2tsp salt
7 tbsp oil (i use olive)
1 or 2 tablespoons milk to combine.
put all the dry ingredients in a bowl, mix with the oil to form breadcrumbs then add in the milk to bring it to a soft dough.
pat out into little 3mm thick cirlces on a tray (don't worry, they don't really spread or rise)
bake at 180 for 10-15 minutes or until just golden then leave them to cool.0 -
I make my own yogurt and add a couple of spoonfuls of the Lidls version for breakfast, along with a handful of raisins, sunflower seeds, chopped nuts and whatever else I have in my row of 'pick & mix' jars
Thickens it up and tastes lush!:)
