Sorry for the delay here is the recipe - thought I'd better try it out first

    Cheese Flapjacks

    Porridge oats 5oz (150g)
    Cheddar cheese grated 6oz (175g)
    Free range eggs beaten 1
Butter or margarine melted 2oz (50g)
    Rosemary crushed 1/2 tsp
    Salt and pepper to taste

Combine all the ingredients together. Mix well. Then press into a shallow 7" (18cm) Square cake tin. Bake in the oven at 180C (350F/Mark 4) for 40 minutes, until golden. Cut into slices. Serve hot or cold.

I loved them, my 2 year old was not so keen.

Hi there,:D just bumping this thread to find out if any old-stylers have had any luck in finding a biscuit/cookie recipe using this stuff. We're trying to make something a bit like a twink, but with little success thus far as we can't use golden syrup :(

Can anyone help with abiscuit recipe which works with ready brek?

    Hi Weezil

I make these below for my diabetic MIL, only I make lots of little ones

    http://www.recipezaar.com/Instant-Oatmeal-Cookie-170423

and in case you need flapjacks without golden syrup try these

    150g butter
    250g porridge oats
    100g chopped dried apricots
125g dates, nice and soft and chop them into smallish cubes
    30g chopped nuts,
3 to 4 tbsp apple juice

Melt the butter over a low heat
pour in the apple juice and mix well
Add the oats, dried apricots and dates
Add nut pieces and stir again, elbow grease needed gets very hard to stir.
Transfer your mixture into a shallow baking dish and smooth it over with a knife to make sure the flapjack mixture is evenly distributed.

At this point I have left them sitting around for hours if needed, whilst I prepare other things to go into the oven at the same time

put into pre heated oven Gas Mark 5 or 190c
Cook on the middle shelf for about 10-12 minutes but check them regularly mine have gone very quickly from golden brown to burnt!

    When cool score into portions

    Hi,

I made anzac biscuits yesterday using porridge oats. I am sure you could use readybrek just have to experiment with the quantities. Anyway this is the recipe. I made 32 yesterday but made the mistake of going out last night. Think there are about 4 left!:D

    90g of oats
    150g of plain flour
    220g brown sugar
    40g dessicated coconut
    125g butter
    2 tblsp golden syrup
    1 tblsp water
    1/2 tspn bicarb

Preheat oven to !60 (1400 for fan assisted ovens. Grease a baking tray

Combine oats, flour, sugar and coconut

Melt butter, syrup and water in a saucepan, add bicarb

Mix together and roll into balls (about a tblspn) flatten slighlty and lace on baking tray. Bake for around 20 mins. Allow to cool. Keep in an airtight tin for about a week if you can hide them:D

    Lovely and scrummy

Julie, would yours work without the syrup, it's the one thing we can't recreate using sugar water solutions- but we have tried :)

Cleaned my cupboards out and I've found almost a full box of Ready Brek that's been there for ages. Nobody seems to want to eat it as ready brek so has anyone got any ideas for amazing concoctions... :D

i have just made australian crunchy with ready brek instead of cornflakes. follow the recipe as it is online but replace the 3oz of cornflakes with 3oz of ready brek, also i found the mixture a bit dry so added an extra ounce of butter. the result is delicious-a softer version of the original.

I am sure you could use fruit juice, instead of syrup, to combine, although they will not taste so caramelly

I'm afraid that I am a 'proper porridge ' person and RB always reminds me of wallpaper paste so I would probably use it for sticking down odd bits of wallpaper that have come unglued:D:D:D
