Dormant credit card?

Checking my Experian report, I note "Account is 'dormant' - not being used and nothing is owed" for my Nationwide credit card.
The interest-free period was ending so I paid it off and haven't used it for a few months as I got another card MBNA which offers 0% interest till next year.
Am I best off closing the Nationwide account (13,800 limit) and just have a single MBNA (8,500 limit)?
Have no debts other than MBNA normally has a balance of 1-2k.

I'd keep at least two cards, preferably more.0

Thanks zx81 - so 1 active credit card plus 2+ dormant cards are ok?0

Use them throughout the month and pay off in full.
Use one for travel/fuel costs another for groceries so they are being used. This will keep them active and reporting a regular turnover to your credit report.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Budgeting & Bank Accounts, Credit Cards, Credit File & Ratings and Energy boards. Just be better than you were yesterday.0 -
Its best to keep your accounts active. Set them up for full payment by Direct Debit and use them for something like a tank of fuel each month etc
This keeps your accounts open so they keep reporting to the credit agencies and they automatically get paid in full.0 -
At least one back-up card is good. Different cards also have different benefits. If it is the select card you have from Nationwide then it gives you commission free purchases abroad. Put something through it occasionally to keep it live.0

If the card is dormant, then it could get closed by Nationwide. As has been said just have a DD to pay full balance and use it occasionally for something you would normally use cash or debit card for. It doesn't have to be every month either.0
