Bank negligence, police involved

You realise your post #31 rather contradicts your post #32?Probably because there are a number of people on the forum with overactive imaginations.
I believe I've been around forums long enough to trust my own instincts rather than any "overactive imagination":p
Yes, "interesting", especially since FOS has no remit to "investigate" until the Bank has had full opportunity to consider any complaint.I will say it's interesting that you are dealing with FOS when you are still dealing with the bank.
Clearly they don't know. How does the OP know that a fraud has been committed ?0 -

I'm not convinced either Moneyineptitude. It was this bit "Bank said no worries as we both had to be in branch to make any withdrawals. And as I live 250 miles away no problem." that threw me.
Why on earth would anyone have this sort of arrangement setup if they lived 250 miles away?0 -

No wonder the OP had to fly to the branch.Dropped phone and flew up to branch0 -

Wish I could just drop my phone (at the replacement cost of around £800) and get a same day flight just like that too...
Must be great having all this disposable cash lying around...:rotfl::rotfl:0 -
It's still Easter holidays, innit.0

In this day and age it is unusual shall we say to have a child's account requiring two signatures for withdrawals.
That is all I'm saying on the matter.0 -
This is a strange thread but not caused by the OP, Lulumu. They should have a sub forum for trolls so that all posts can be kept together.
That way all the pish can be kept in one place and they would have like minded (strange) people to talk to.
The responses from many of the MSE regulars have been rather unsympathetic and in some cases very hostile. I cannot see anything in Lulumu's posts that would warrant these responses.
As to the original question, I have not had any experience of this issue. However, I would be inclined to follow the advice of the police as the bank may not have your best interests at heart.0 -

Agreed as new children accounts are more likely to opened in the childs name rather then the old way of trustee one and two re for child.
That said there are going to still be accounts out there that were opened in this fashion, with both signatures needed to be seen for withdrawals.
over time this will fade and probably wont be a issue for people as these accounts fade out as per passbook accounts, which are being phased out in some banks and building societies.
