Hello all. Thanks Valli for the list. I'll make a start on it shortly having spent the morning doing a job search.

Hugs to HB, sorry to hear about Devil Cat.

Slinkies: I still weigh 3lbs more than when I started in January.
Scrimpers: I have no choice, although will be spending today getting the car serviced.
Spend less now, work less later.

assuming scrimpers want to continue to scrimp?
Ye gods, YES!!! I LURVE Scrimping! It gives me a good excuse to veto silly things Mr LW wants to put in the grocery basket - "I'm doing the Flylady Scrimpers Challenge, and buying a *insert name of frivolous purchase* will put me way down the league table". (He doesn't need to know we don't actually have a league table).

LW... confiscate his toys.. I regularly have to take OHs phone off him.. they are such children!
Hmmm..... Take the batteries out of the tv remote? Hide the PS2 (yes we still have a PS2) controller? What do I do about his #1 toy though - the pc? It's a bit big to confiscate! :rotfl:
I gave him a lecture this morning about Empathy. Don't suppose it'll make any difference.

Anyways, I shall be doing what little I can manage with two canine and one human lummox underfoot. :D

HB I am so sorry that Devil Cat has finally trodden Rainbow Bridge. It did make me wonder if spitting out his tablet the other day was his way of saying "enough, now". He truly was a miracle cat, and I know he will live on forever in yours and Mr HB's hearts. x

LW.. Hide the mouse?? and/or keyboard?? lol.. Have you tried the reverse psychology stuff? Praise him like he is a child and reward him with treats like the dogs? I've found if the manbeast is rewarded for his endeavours he is more likely to be compliant next time.. I shall ignore planet slowcooker and its population of phnooblies. ;)

Washing brought in super quick as there was a sudden downpour.. which lasted all of 5 minutes and it is nor glorious again... *mutter mutter mumble mumble!*

    DS3 disciplined..

I need the loo and maybe a cuppa and then to start some landing clearance.

Thank you so much everyone. All of your messages mean the world to me, and I'm going to read all of them to OH later. I know he'll really appreciate them. We took Devil Cat to the pet crematorium this morning so OH can have his ashes back to keep. We usually have them in a little woven pouch for burial in the garden but we spied a rather nice carved wooden cat curled up asleep, with a space in it for them, so I rather think his remains will be an ornament that OH will keep forever.

He's in pieces, obviously, and I keep seeing the little chap everywhere. We worked it out - OH has had a cat around him continuously for 39 years, and I've usually had more than one around for 32 years, so it's hardly surprising the house feels empty without any. It won't be long before we're ready and we're definitely getting more than one; I've had up to four in the past and part of the problem today is that there aren't any others to alleviate the loss.

We watched the documentary about Dave Allen last night and after he died his widow said it felt like she was stranded a long way from home. That's the best description of grief I've ever heard.

    Snore....snore....snore.....snore.....

Buy a large chest freezer with a strong padlock on it and make it up to look like a fourposter bed.

Carpet scrubbing will recommence - Kelpie was sick this morning at about 5.30 am *thanks* and Devil Cat left blood drops all over the place. We tried to keep up with it, but in the last few days it was more important to cuddle him than worry about the carpets. Most of them aren't problematic, but where he shook his head ....

It's absolutely glorious weather here, a proper warm sunny spring day. It won't last, but it's fabulous just the same.
    Better is good enough.
  • Useless Lump has arisen, smiling and chirpy after only fourteen and a half hours snoring. You'd think that somebody had got this trick down to a T two thousand years ago, but today's resurrection has involved one batch of washing up, putting on a load of washing, mopping the shower room floor and asking me to meal plan/write a shopping list with alternatives in case they do not have the specified items for the next three days, which is considerably more impressive in this house than merely being dead for 48 hours.

It's difficult to meal plan on paper on the settee - I do it 'live', ie, in the supermarket and when I know what is in the fridge and cupboards - so I've assumed that everything in the fridge is being binned for food safety reasons.

I've told him that it needs to be emptied and cleaned out/disinfected before I eat ANYTHING, too - the final straw for me was opening the door for milk for tea this morning to see leftover chicken from last Sunday sitting there on top of some lettuce. It's been there for 9 days [bork].

Can you send people who aren't employed in the catering industry on Food Hygiene courses?
