September started and real life and work have become ridiculously busy.

One of our parents was rushed into hospital. They have been battling cancer for many years but now has secondary cancers. This looks like the beginning of the end now. We are all really upset but trying to do all the practical things that will help with their end of life care.

I have been juggling a very busy work load and trying to support Mr Mee in supporting our parents. He has been an absolute gem ....this is why I married him !

It has all been very stressful and I haven't been sleeping very well. I am still managing to run though and this is helping. It really helps to lift my mood and I can now run for 25 minute non stop.........it is a miracle :rotfl:

I feel positively evangelical about C-5k, it is such a brilliant programme and really does work. I am 55 years old, slightly overweight and haven't run for 2 years and I haven't had a single strain or any pain. Next stop ParkRun in 2 weeks time and a full 5k :T

I haven't anything financial to report. ...I haven't tracked spends or even done any money shuffles and I probably won't this month. Our petrol and parking bill will be astronomical but we will just need to suck it up.

Hi Busy Mee, sorry to hear your news, that is sad for you all but its good everyone is being supportive. I know when OH was diagnosed and having treatment, it was impossible to be keeping an eye closely on the financials and other things became a priority.

Well done on the running, am glad you are finding it helps, enjoy the park run :T

    Take care xx

So sorry to hear your news Busy Mee.

In other thoughts, your evangelicalism may be working on me (that, and my husband's nagging!).

Thank you everyone for your good wishes....you are a lovely lot.

We should have been away this week but because lovely MIL is still in hospital, we haven't gone. We have had the week off work though, and have been hospital visiting everyday.

We have tried to make use of the time at home productively and have finally sorted out some wardrobes for our smallest bedroom ( aka the dumping ground :rotfl:). It has only taken 10 years :rotfl: I think we had gotten it into our heads we needed bespoke fitted wardrobes because the room is in the eves and even had a quote for fitted wardrobes (£2.6k ) Anyway a bit of innovative thinking and a trip to the Swedish shop and we now have wardrobes and have had a massive sort out. A trip to the CS and tip is on the cards today.

I have been blackberry picking again...and made more compote for the freezer and a batch of blackberry muffins. I am making blackberry and apple crumble for FIL today. I have been batch cooking and taking him meals that he can just heat through when he gets back from the hospital. It stops him defaulting to the chippy.....at the rate he was going, we were going to need another bed in the coronary heart unit for him !

It has been an expensive week so far, we can't get any money back on our trip ( all prepaid and non-refundable). We will be able to keep the Euros for another time though. The wardrobes cost £300, and I just need to do some shuffling of pots to cover this. Anyway, none of it matters as it was more important that we were here.

We are just waiting to hear what the plan will be for MIL's care. At the moment they are sorting care and aids to send her home, but the Hospice has also been mentioned.

In other news I have completed week 7 of couch-5k and can now run for 25 minutes. I have only lost 4lb though which is a bit disappointing but still better than nothing. I am sure I will have put on some muscle weight too ;)

Think that is all our news....this week has been an interesting practice for retirement. We have been both at home together and been really busy. I can understand why retired people say they don't know how they had time to fit work in :D

Sorry to hear you were not able to go on the trip but important to spend time with loved ones and I'm sure all the support [and meals] will be appreciated.

Well done on the wardrobes and the room sort out too :T

    How is it suddenly October??

I just thought I would just quickly pop in to do my September financial update and then will be along shortly to update on everything else.

    September 2019

    Repayment Mortgage. 52851.48
    IO Mortgage. 169000.00
    Total Mortgage. 221851.48

    Savings this month. 1700.00. :T
    Total savings. 83,000.00

Savings offset mortgage to £138,851. 48. :T we are in the 130's

    Holiday pot £1010
    Annual bill pot. £515
    Odds and sods. £387.36

I am very pleased that we managed to increased our savings this month to £1700, nicely rounding our total savings up to £83 k.

I am also happy that we now have enough in the various pots to cover holiday payments on the credit card and Mr Mee's expensive car tax.

Mr Mee will only receive one more full salary at the end of October, with just an odd week owing at the end of November. He now only has 4 weeks to work, the lucky thing.

His pension offer has come through and both his pension and lump sum were slightly more than we expected :D

How lovely for you. Mr lass is relaxing into retirement - I have to keep saying "what's on your list for today?" when he is sitting, nose in tablet, two hours after he woke up (4 hours after me, this morning!), err still in this PJs! - Beware emergency stop syndrome! :rotfl:
