I am trying for a quick 7lbs before hols - lost a bit but still showing 4lbs I don't need. I really need to stick to it. Lots of courgettes and beans so meal planning around these. Running not an option for me as ankles and knees are knackered - officially (my generation played hockey on unsprung artificial turf and our joints suffered). I walk, should swim and do pilates but have not started the expected daytime classes since retiring - we will do once we get back from hols. I shall follow your progress

My favourite time of the month again. Although it feels a bit dull in terms of the savings amount is always the same. But hey, here it is:

    July 2019
    Monthly Savings. £1,500
    Total Savings. £79,500 (over £10k saved in 2019 :T)

    Repayment mortgage. £54,706.13
    IO mortgage. £169,000
    Total Mortgage. £223,706.93

    Savings offset mortgage to. £144,206.13

    Holiday savings £2600/£3228.52

Not a particularly earth shattering financial month, we managed to maintain our saving rate of £1500 a month and increase the holiday savings, but our annual bills pot only has £49 in it :o. The odds and sods account is creeping back up again due to the £125 FD switching bonus.

So this month we have to pay for the big retirement trip, so I will be paying for this £3228.52 on my cash back credit card. Hopefully by the time we come to pay it next month, we will have enough in the holiday savings pot to pay for it.

I am going to try and track our spending again through August, particularly grocery spend just to try and get a grip again :T

In non financial news I have completed the three runs of week 1 of c-5k and lost 2lb. So far so good, let's hope I can keep it up :D

    Happy Yorkshire Day :)

Fab savings and great that you are back running. Have fun... OH and I are going to take the dog for a walk shortly - the closest I've been getting to exercise recently

Hooray it's the weekend. It has felt like a long week, with a trip to London this week. A thirteen hour day at the beginning of the week, makes it seem endlessly long.

Luckily I managed an early finish yesterday when my meeting finished early, and I managed a pop to the outlet centre on my way home (unlucky from a financial point of view :rotfl: ) I bought some new bedding I have had my eye on for ages and a top from the Gap clearance rail. I have been looking for a yellow top for ages and this one is perfect, so well pleased :T

We had a power cut last night and we had, what turned out to be a very pleasant evening reading until the light went and an early night. The power came back on at about 10.30.

I start week two of c-5k today, which I am still really enjoying. I hope I continue to enjoy it as it ramps up and gets harder. Weight loss is going well and I have lost 2lb this week.

I am not following any specific diet ( although I have done them all over the years ), I am just aiming for a calorie deficit. So I am aiming to burn around 2500 calories a day ( monitored by my Fitbit) and consume under 1500 calories a day, therefore creating a calorie deficit of around 1000 calories a day. Around a 3500 calorie deficit is needed to lose 1lb, so in theory I should lose 2lb a week. I am trying to approach this in a mathematical, almost MFW type way :rotfl:

Nothing much else to report. We have a birthday this weekend and a meal out, but actually looking at the calendar, we have something every weekend through August which involves a meal out  . Not good for the finances or my weight loss :o We are going for an Indian tonight, so I am hoping that someone will share a main course with me.

Anyway I need to get my running shoes on and crack on with my day. There is cleaning to be done, and a birthday cake to ice.

    Have a great weekend :)

It's always nice when you get a bargain. Hope the running and diet goes well. I'm about to force myself to take our dog for a walk. She will be thrilled and I get some much needed exercise!

Well we have had some weird weather this week, one minute warm and sunny and the next torrential rain...typical British summertime I suppose. Today looks positively Autumnal....windy and grey.

I am psyching myself up to go for my run. Today is the start of week 3 of C-5k. I am still really enjoying it and I can definitely feel that my fitness level has improved. I am loving the app and chose Sarah Millican as my "trainer"....the trouble is at the end of the run when she says "well done flower" I also expect her to say " now go and eat cake !" She was probably the wrong choice for me:rotfl:

On that note I can't report any more weight loss....probably something to do with the curry, Birthday cake and Prosecco consumed last weekend :p

Not much to report on the financial front, although I am tracking all our spending again this month. I just wanted to check that the £1200 I have budgeted in retirement for our general spending is still holding up. It is looking fine I think, we will probably overspend on entertainment this month, but we will be underspent on other areas. Mr Mee working from home 2 or 3 days a week is making a big difference to our petrol and parking costs and we haven't had the gardener this year.

The Now TV viewing is going fine but Mr Mee and DS have decided to go half each on the Now sports package at £199 for the year. It is still much cheaper that the £59 per month we were paying for Sky. And we now now get to watch as much football as we want :o:o

I also got a referral link for Quidco from a blog called "Andy's be clever with your cash" for £17...just need to spend £10 via Quidco. I use TCB all the time but there looks to be a few different offers on Quidco. There is also a refer a friend bonus for £20, so I will be referring Mr Mee

I think that is all, I need to get my trainers on and get my run done. Shopping and cleaning today and then we are out for another family meal tomorrow :T
